Alucobond panels were developed in Germany in 1964. Today, Alucobond aluminum composite panels are widely used for cladding the facades of business and shopping centers, residential buildings, administrative buildings, schools and hospitals. They allow you to reduce construction costs, while a building lined with Alucobond panels will look modern and also meet all safety requirements.
Alucobond consists of two sheets of aluminum, between which there is a plastic or mineral layer of different thicknesses. Alucobond panels are produced in the form of a continuous strip, which makes it possible to cut them into pieces of any length, at the request of the customer. Next, the panels are milled into cassettes using a special tool and mounted on the prepared system.
Aluminum tape for the production of Alucobond panels is painted using the roller application method. The finished panels are covered with a protective film, which is removed after installation. Composite panels "Alucobond" can be of standard colors - "metallic", "natural stone", or the buyer can order an individual shade. The façade, finished with Alucobond panels, has an aesthetic appearance and shines brightly in the sun.
By the Alucobond marking you can distinguish what kind of layer is present in a given panel. The letter A means that a mineral filler was used, the letter B means plastic. Alucobond with a mineral filler meets the most stringent fire safety standards, so it can be used in the construction of any objects, as well as for interior decoration. Alucobond panels with a plastic layer are most often used for exterior finishing of buildings no more than 8 meters high.
Advantages of Alucobond panels:
- Alucobond facade panels are resistant to external factors and retain their original color for many years;
- resistant to corrosion and chemicals;
- resistant to dynamic impact - Alucobond panels are strong and tear-resistant, withstand shock and pressure;
- resistant to stains;
- withstand large temperature changes - from 50° C to +80° C;
- have increased sound insulation;
- have high strength with low weight: the Alucobond composite material is a product of modern technologies;
- easy to install and process.
Alucobond panels are produced by the only manufacturer in the world - the ALCAN concern. The flexibility of the material allows you to create a shape of any size, which gives scope to the architect's plans. Its service life is at least 50 years. The quality of the panels meets ECCA requirements.

Alucobond panels are used as external cladding of ventilated facades and have the technical characteristics described below.
“Alucobond”, panel dimensions: thickness 4, width 1220 mm, length 2440 mm. Panels are produced in the form of a continuous strip and can be cut into pieces of any length.
“Alucobond”, flammability: panels differ in flammability group. Each is indicated by its own symbol. For example, the ALUCOBOND® B2 marking indicates that the material belongs to the flammable group. ALUCOBOND® B2 belongs to the group of flame retardants.
“Alucobond”, texture: coloring allows you to give the material almost any texture and color. It can be marble, chrome, gold, mirror surfaces or imitation plaster - the Alucobond texture is striking in its diversity.
When choosing Alucobond panels, the weight depends on the type of panel and ranges from 5 to 8 kg/sq.m.

Installation
Installation of alucobond consists of 10 main stages. Start of work - attaching brackets to the rough wall. They are fixed with anchors with drop-down metal sleeves. Then, insulation is laid. You need a fibrous type of mineral wool. The slots for the brackets are made in it with a mounting knife.
A windproof membrane is placed on top of the insulation. It is vapor permeable, but at the same time protects from moisture. The insulation and membrane are secured with dowel umbrellas. They are fastened with nails. Sometimes locking screws are used. Dowels are needed with a wide neck.
A vertical metal profile is attached to the brackets protruding from under the thermal insulation. Its pitch depends on the size of the panels. The profile is secured with self-tapping screws and rivets. It is acceptable to use a regular profile. However, it is easier for aluminum alucobond to “sit” on a special one, with a special fastening system.
Installation of alucobond
itself (cassettes) . They are leveled and secured in the corners with metal screws. They work with a drill. When fixing, the level of the screw heads is monitored. They should not push through the protective layer of the panels.
There is a support plate inside the vertical profile. It is pulled out with a screwdriver and placed onto the hook of the alucobond cassette. In this position, the plate is fixed with self-tapping screws. This reduces the stress on the corner fastenings of the composite panels.
All that remains is to install the other cassettes according to the described scheme, maintaining equal gaps between them. This is cladding with alucobond . When choosing it, customers are guided by the pros and cons of the material.

The best analogues
The production of alucobond panels is now carried out in a number of countries. Products that are manufactured in Germany, China, etc. are available on the Russian market.
The question often arises whether there is a difference between ekopen alucobond and engelberg, which panels are better to install. Each of them is characterized by certain advantages. Regarding alucobond from Germany, it is considered the most expensive. Transportation, customs duties, etc. increase the cost, so not everyone is able to purchase the goods.
Panels that are produced in China have a budget price. Analogs from Chinese manufacturers are much inferior in quality to products from Germany.
It is extremely unusual for joint production of Chinese-German companies, which combine control over the products produced and adequate cost. Today, alucobond panels are gradually increasing their popularity. It is an excellent cladding material that has found application in many construction fields. The products are produced under the same brand. Such panels are characterized by an impressive range of colors. Used for external and internal cladding work. However, before choosing a product, you need to familiarize yourself with the technical characteristics.

Material price
The cost of panels is influenced by many factors, including the manufacturer, size and degree of flammability. On average in Russia, the cost of Alucobond starts at 800 rubles/m2.
The cost of installing panels starts at 600 rubles/m2; many companies set a minimum cost of work, approximately 7,000 rubles. These figures are subjective and may vary depending on the region.

Advantages and disadvantages
As you can see in the photo of alucobond composite panels, they differ in shades and texture. The polymer films that cover the panels come in any color, with different saturations, matte, shiny and iridescent. This variety is one of the advantages of the material. We also consider the ease of working with them as an advantage - a standard set of tools for metal and wood will be enough for you. Alucobond can be easily bent along a radius and angle, and it is also easy to cut and roll.
Also among the advantages we include excellent sound insulation and thermal insulation. This is due to the layered structure of the panels and the polymer porous filler inside. The voids are filled with gases, and it poorly conducts both sound and thermal waves, and all this with a material thickness of 3 mm. The porosity of the layer and multi-layering also reduce vibration, so finishing with such material is beneficial in those objects that are located near the airport, railway tracks, landfills and production facilities. Another advantage is durability and strength. Alucobond can remain unchanged for 50 to 200 years.

Application area
The material is classified not only by type, but also by color and texture. It will depend on what style of building the material will be appropriate for. There are blocks made to look like wood, metal ones that can imitate stone. For private construction, the material is rarely used, partly because the type of aluminum composite panels alucobond is industrial.
To some extent, private owners try to avoid these panels because of the cost, but for the facades of high-rise buildings, entertainment and shopping centers this is the best option, since industrialism is in place. However, there are some advantages to using the material, since due to its low weight it places minimal load on the foundation. Alucobond also has a simple installation scheme, which makes it possible to finish the facade and interior of large buildings in a short time.
The facade option is most often used, since the interior is rarely finished with composite panels. Alucobond is also in high demand for projects and billboards. If in facade work and in the finishing of buildings the use is most often total, then for private construction of houses the use of such panels, if at all, is fragmentary.
