- Conclusion
If you are planning a redevelopment, you need to know the series of the house - this determines what repairs can be made in the apartment, which walls can be demolished, and where to apply for permits for approval.
The series allows you to find out the design features of the house. The quickest way to find the series for your home is on the website flatinfo.ru. This is a convenient source that we ourselves use in our work. Just enter your address in the “Detailed information about the house” column and you will receive the necessary information.
If you need 100% reliable information, then it is better to request it from the management company, from the authors of the house project, or from a company involved in apartment redevelopment.
Next, we’ll tell you what other ways there are to reliably find out the series of your home.
What is a home series and why is it needed?
Most houses in Moscow were built according to standard designs, or series. They have identical apartment layouts and engineering structures, and the same building materials.
One series unites a group of houses that are similar either in the material of the walls or in the time of construction of the buildings. According to the wall material there are:
- Brick houses are standard series, the external walls of which are built of brick;
- Panel houses are standard series assembled from ready-made reinforced concrete panels;
- Block houses are standard series, the external walls of which are built from concrete blocks.
- Monolithic houses are standard series in which the building frame and main floors are cast from concrete.
Based on the construction time in Moscow, four main periods of construction of apartment buildings can be distinguished:
- Stalin's series . Houses designed and built according to standard designs in the 1959s are predominantly block or brick;
- Khrushchev series . Houses designed and built to standard designs between 1956 and 1964 are mostly panel or brick;
- Brezhnev series . Houses designed and built according to standard designs between 1965 and 1980. There are brick, panel and block buildings;
- Modern series . Standard houses that have been designed from the early 1990s to the present day. The materials used in construction are different.
If your house was built earlier than the mid-50s of the last century, an individual project was definitely used - there were no series of houses then.
Methods for determining apartment layout
There are several ways to find out the layout of an apartment by address. You can’t do without online services here, because such information in the traditional way, through the BTI, is given only to the owner. And in this case, he needs to attach documents confirming his identity and ownership to his application.
Another person will be able to request a copy of the apartment’s registration certificate only if they have a notarized power of attorney from the owner. Therefore, determining the layout of apartments online by address is the only free way.

Features of Internet search
To find an apartment layout online, you need to know the address of the house. But the series and year of construction are more important, because they will have to be used to search.
If the house is a standard one, built during the Soviet period, the task will be the simplest. In those days, serial housing construction was developed, which accelerated the construction time of houses and their occupancy.
The series created initially were, as a rule, modified, taking into account the shortcomings made during the design, incorporating more modern and effective materials into the explications.
That is why when searching for a planning solution it is so important to know the year the house was built. It, like the series, can be found in the BTI. Such information is stored in the Russian Real Estate Register.
A later interpretation of the project may differ significantly from the original version. The photo below shows with an arrow three modifications of one project, which differed in number of floors and could be built in parallel in different years.

Looking for a plan online
Knowing the year the house was put into operation and the project series number, you can go to one of the sites like this: www.tipdoma.com.
Here you can find information about the main regional series of houses, but there are similar sites for real estate in the capital, and for some large cities separately.
The table next to the required series shows:
- wall material;
- number of floors of the house;
- years during which houses were built according to this project.
By following the link in the series number you can see general information about the project and its modifications, accompanied by a photo of the facade and floor layout options, be it one option or several.
To make searching easier, such sites have sections in which houses are divided by series, construction period, number of storeys, and wall material (brick, panel, block).
What does the house series code mean?
In documents, the house series looks like a code consisting of letters and numbers or just numbers. It contains basic information about the house that is needed to build a house and register the building with the BTI.
The letters of the code indicate the materials used in the construction of the house. For example, K is a brick house, P is a panel house.
Often series of houses in Moscow are designated by numbers . For example, 1-515/9M:
- the numbers before the slash indicate the series number - in this case it is “Khrushchev”;
- the number after the line indicates the number of floors - for example, 9;
- the letter “M” means orientation to the cardinal directions – “north-south”. There is another marking - “W”, that is, “west-east”.
The series of the house affects the redevelopment options, and in order not to make mistakes in renovation ideas, you better find out in advance. For example, in the one-room apartment of the P-44 series, the wall between the room and the kitchen is always load-bearing. This means that it cannot be demolished, only an opening can be made. The same situation is with the II-49 series. But in 3-room apartments of houses of series II-57, P-55 and P-44, the wall separating the kitchen from the room is non-load-bearing, and it can be completely demolished, provided that the kitchen is electrified.
Next, we talk about all the ways to quickly and accurately find out the series at home.
Method number 2. Contact APM-1
This is one of the fastest and most reliable ways to determine the series of a house - contacting a design company that specializes in redevelopment. For example, in ours.
We have legalized more than 1000 renovations in houses of almost all series and can often visually determine the type of building. Also, from us you can immediately get detailed advice on redevelopment - what can and cannot be done in the apartments of your series, where to start the renovation.
