How to paint a metal garage and consider everything

Inexpensive paint for metal garage

Paint must be selected based on two factors :

  • maximum moisture and frost resistance;
  • quick drying.

How to paint the outside of a metal garage? There are many types of paints and varnishes . Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of each of them:

  1. Oil is one of the cheapest options. It applies easily to the surface, but in open air and at low temperatures it quickly fades and begins to peel off. Currently practically not used.
  2. Alkyd enamel - performs better in unfavorable atmospheric conditions, but, nevertheless, its service life does not exceed 4 years .
  3. Acrylic anti-corrosion - more expensive, but more durable . The metal protects well from precipitation and temperature changes. This paint can be applied to rusty areas, after first cleaning off the thick, loose layers. Thanks to the additives it contains, corrosion processes under its protection are slowed down and neutralized.
  4. Latex water-dispersion - performs the function of paint and primer. The service life of such a universal coating is about ten years .

How to paint the outside of an iron garage using old paint? The ideal option would be a special composition with anti-corrosion additives that slow down corrosion processes in adverse conditions.

Why paint?

The metal is very sensitive to the effects of adverse atmospheric conditions. Even high-quality galvanized material quickly becomes covered with unsightly rusty spots . In addition to its unattractive appearance, an unpainted surface quickly deteriorates and the service life of the garage is reduced. In order for the structure to serve as long as possible, it is necessary to periodically restore its surface by painting .

Selecting the color

What paint to paint the outside of an iron garage? Theoretically, any color is suitable for painting; in this matter, you can focus on your taste. It’s also a good idea to choose a color that harmonizes with nearby buildings.

But from a practical point of view, you should not choose too bright a color, since dust and dirt will stand out sharply on such a surface. Therefore, it is worth choosing a shade in which dirt will be less noticeable .

It is also not recommended to use black or any very dark color. On a sunny day, metal of this color will heat up , and it will be impossible to stay inside the garage.

Preparing the surface

Before covering the garage with paint, you need to carefully prepare the surface . Without these activities, it is impossible to achieve a good result. Preparation consists of the following steps:

    Cleaning from dust and dirt.

Wash away all dirt and dust. For better results, you can use a car wash or a simple garden hose.

Removing old coating.

This can be done thermally or chemically. A hair dryer is used for heat treatment. With its help, the metal heats up and the old paint rises in the form of bubbles. Such peeled layers can be easily removed using a spatula or a metal brush.

Chemical removal is carried out using a special remover to remove old paint.

Removing rust.

This is done using fine-grained sandpaper. This action must be carried out especially carefully, since the remaining rusty spots will quickly appear through the paint layer and ruin the appearance.

To neutralize rust, you can use a special chemical solution called “rust converter.” It is sold at any auto store. is not washed off after processing the metal . If the rust is loose, you first need to clean it off with a wire brush.

It is convenient to clean the surface with a special metal attachment in the form of a brush on an angle grinder. Just wear safety glasses and a respirator to prevent dust from getting into your respiratory tract and eyes.

Surface priming.

Any primer for metal surfaces is suitable. If the garage was very rusty, the primer must be applied in two layers, each of which is thoroughly dried. With this treatment, there is a chance that rust will appear on the surface much later.

Scale and rust on iron gates

The word “gate” itself means that the structure is outdoors under the influence of moisture and temperature changes. It protects against illegal entry into the garage and yard. Therefore, the gate must be strong and easy to open. They need to be looked after: lubricate the canopies, cover the entire surface with protective compounds.

We paint iron gates ourselves

My friend built his own house and the very next summer came to me with a question about painting the iron gates. Over the course of a year, they all lost their attractive appearance and began to corrode. The paint was peeling off around the edges and at joints. Various structures required restoration:

  • garages made of sheet steel;
  • forged at the entrance to the yard.

Vadik wanted to do everything with his own hands. I told him the main stages of painting the gate:

  1. Clean the structure from dust and dirt, wash it well and dry it.
  2. Remove rust.
  3. Degrease the entire surface.
  4. Coat with metal primer.
  5. Apply fresh exterior metal paint.
  6. If desired, decorate the gate.

Each of the operations can be simplified by using special tools and tools. My friend and I started discussing various options.

Painting technology

How to paint the outside of a garage? You can apply paint using a brush, roller or spray gun - choose that is convenient for you. The only rule for any instrument is that painting must begin from the top so that there are no drips.

If the work is carried out using a spray gun, use it in conjunction with a compressor, this way you can achieve an even layer . Keep the gun no closer than 15 cm to avoid drips. Spray painting is carried out in three layers, since the paint is diluted liquidly and this is the only way to get an even color . But when painting with a brush or roller, you should not apply a third layer - the coating will be too thick and will begin to peel off.

The spray gun is not suitable for painting with silver . With liquid dilution, it will not stick to the surface, and with the recommended dilution, the sprayer will become clogged.

When painting with silver, use a roller or paint brush.

When painting with a spray gun, additionally brush along the joints and gate hinges, since the paint may not get into these places when sprayed and corrosion processes will begin there.

Often garages are close together , and painting the side walls is problematic. Then you should use a spray bottle with an extension nozzle.

The work must be carried out on a clear, sunny day so that sudden rain does not spoil the process and the paint can dry well. It is also not recommended to carry out work at temperatures below 10-15 degrees . This will slow down the drying of each layer and the work will take longer.

You can easily handle painting a metal garage yourself without paying extra money to professionals. Following the rules for caring for your metal garage will allow you to use your carport for as long as possible.

Aftercare rules

Caring for painted garage walls is easy:

  • Wash off dust with warm water and detergent as it gets dirty;
  • traces of chemicals are removed with appropriate solvents;
  • cracks that appear are sealed with putty, primed and painted over;
  • oil stains and traces of grease from the walls are removed with sponges or rags with soapy water.

It is better to wash stains immediately so that there are no traces or color changes left on the paint.

How to paint iron: how to paint a rusty iron garage, fence

At first glance, the question of how to paint iron does not cause any particular difficulties or difficulties. A cleaned surface, paint, a brush and the golden hands of the owner. Take a brush in your hands, dip it into a can of paint and paint, the main thing is to apply it carefully. But this simplicity is only apparent.

The photo shows the coating process

Difficulties will arise at the very first stage - purchasing paint, since the variety of paints and varnishes in construction stores is very large. The base for coloring itself can also be varied. Let's try to figure out how to paint rusty iron or other metal that has not been lucky enough to experience corrosion.

Choosing material

For a long time, oil-based types of paints were used to color metals; such coloring even acquired the status of traditional.

Today, thanks to the excellent properties of modern primers, it has become possible to use the following types of materials for painting such bases:

  • Acrylic (water-soluble and non-water-soluble);
  • Alkyd;
  • Materials based on epoxy resins.

Advice. Do not use water-dispersed compositions for painting metal. You need those finishing materials that contain anti-corrosion additives, and an even better option may be products with the addition of a rust converter, which form a dense protective film on the surface.

Hammer paint: advantages and disadvantages

The first and main advantage of hammer paint is that it is suitable for processing almost all materials. Concrete, plastic, wood - all this can be covered using such a product.

Hammer paint has good resistance to sudden temperature changes and changes in weather conditions. Due to this, enamel is often used for vehicles.

Also, the advantages of hammer paint include the following properties:

  • the texture of the enamel hides defects formed on the surface well;
  • applying paint can be done in several ways, which does not cause difficulties even for beginners;
  • After dyeing, the product can be washed even with strong household detergents.

It is also worth noting that hammer enamel is presented in a wide range, and therefore there are rarely difficulties in choosing the appropriate option.

Like any product, paint has not only advantages, but also minor disadvantages. Enamel is quite difficult to remove from the surface, and even a solvent is not able to thoroughly wash it off.

Another disadvantage, which was noted by the buyers themselves, is the high cost of paint. Compared to other options, it has a fairly impressive price.

When applying paint to a surface, it is best not to use a spray gun. Sometimes small gaps form in the metal.

Some features of metal coloring

Every caring owner who is thinking about what and how to paint an iron fence or other structures should know some of the features of this process:

  • The best result can be achieved only if iron paint is used;
  • Iron is a material that, without proper protective coating, becomes covered with rust in the shortest possible time. Therefore, to finish it, you should use an alkyd primer containing phosphate or chromate. Primers of this type are able to protect the surface of iron much better than others;
  • Today, galvanized iron is often used to create roofs, due to the fact that its resistance to corrosion is much higher. Painting the iron will further increase the lifespan of galvanized metal, which will also give the structure a much more attractive appearance;
  • The coating created with alkyd paints is much more durable than the finish produced using acrylic or oil paints;
  • The instructions included with each paint and varnish material certainly contain information about which surfaces are appropriate to paint with it. Don't forget to read it carefully before starting work.

Color selection

Of course, you yourself have the right to decide what color your garage will be, because painting in the garage is purely your business, since you are its owner. However, if your garage is in a co-op with many other similar spaces in your neighborhood, then you probably don't want to stand out too much. It is best to choose a color that is similar to the colors used on other gates.

It is also worth considering that dark colors such as black, brown, etc. attract the sun's rays, which will cause the paint to fade over time and the appearance of your garage to lose its attractive appearance. By painting it a dark shade, you will also ensure that in the summer it will be impossible to stay inside the garage due to the strong heating of the door.

Coating technology

Spray painting

If you are thinking, for example, about how to paint an iron garage or other metal structure, then you should definitely know that this procedure should consist of three main stages of work, the order of which must not be disturbed:

  1. Preparatory work;
  2. Application of primer;
  3. Coloring.

Preparing metal for painting

Brushes for removing a layer of old finish

Iron rust paint with anti-corrosion additives or regular iron paint cannot be applied directly to old, uncleaned trim. The surface to be painted must be properly prepared.

Note! The quality of material preparation can affect the durability and aesthetic characteristics of the created coating.

The essence of surface preparation lies in cleaning and removing everything unnecessary from it.

This process consists of the following stages of work:

  • Remove debris and dust from the surface;
  • Remove rust and old paintwork from the surface , if any. For this purpose, you can safely use a scraper, a metal brush, sandpaper and even a metal dishwashing sponge;
  • Remove stubborn dirt, dust, grease stains , etc.

Advice. To remove stains of dirt and grease, do not use abrasives; it is better to treat the surface with a soap solution.

If large areas are intended for painting, it would be advisable to use a gas burner. The flame of such a device will burn the paintwork, and the remaining scale and rust will peel off easily after treatment.

Many people are concerned about the question of how to paint rusty iron? The preparation of such material can be done using rust converters. In this case, the product is lubricated with the product and after some time it is washed and dried.

Advice. In cases where rust cannot be dealt with, paint with anti-corrosion characteristics should be used.

Padding

Priming rusty metal

A primer is a composition that allows you to protect metal from aggressive environmental influences, and these compositions also function as rust converters. In addition, the primer allows you to increase the adhesion of the created finish. Apply primer to the prepared surface.

Applying the primer yourself can be done in any way convenient for you - pouring, spraying, brush, roller, etc.

Painting metal

The next stage is applying paint.

This process should be carried out taking into account the following recommendations:

  • Products with fairly complex shapes should be painted with a brush;
  • The paint should be applied in 2-3 layers;
  • Small areas can be tinted using an aerosol can, applying a coating of 4 or more layers;
  • It is more advisable to paint large surfaces using a roller, diluting the paint with a solvent. Roller painting requires a minimum of 2-3 coats of paint.

Whatever painting method you choose, you need to remember that before applying each subsequent layer, at least 3 hours must pass so that the paint does not harden.

Painting concrete walls

You might end up with something like this - a comfortable garage

Now is the time to decide the following: how to paint the walls in the garage, and how it should be done if the walls themselves are made of concrete.

As for the materials, the same garage paints that were listed and discussed above will be used here, but in addition to them, be sure to also use deep penetration impregnation!

Why is impregnation needed?

  1. The secret is that concrete has a porous surface, so the paint and varnish material will apply completely unevenly;
  2. You will have to paint the wall in the garage in several layers to get a satisfactory result;
  3. To ensure that paint consumption is within the normal range (unjustified waste of paint and varnish materials is unlikely to please anyone), you can do the right thing - use a specialized primer specifically for concrete surfaces.

Consider the following point - it is best to carry out painting work in an unheated garage when it is a warm season outside, that is, the temperature does not drop below plus 10 degrees.

If painting is done in low temperatures, then the coating that you applied to the garage walls will take a long time to dry. At the same time, it will never be able (which is more than likely) to gain the necessary strength. This should not be allowed, so that repairs do not have to be started again after some time.

Stages of work

In what order is painting the walls in the garage done? Now we will analyze literally every step that you need to complete if you undertake this work yourself.

First you need to put things in order - it is recommended to remove dust from the walls. The simplest broom is ideal for this; When cleaning of the surface to be treated is done, apply the primer with a roller. The same “Betonokontakt” or something similar will do. After application, wait until the composition dries completely; Stir the paint thoroughly, while adding solvent or pigments to its composition - this is all described in the instructions for the paint and varnish material. That is, just read the manual and act as it says

It is better not to allow deviations in such an important matter;

Painting garage walls in progress

  • Some paint is poured into a small paint bath and a roller is dipped into it. When the roller has absorbed the required amount of paint, remove it, remove all the sagging on the side - and you can begin the painting work itself. It's time to paint the garage walls!
  • Painting a wall is easy. Just apply vertical stripes. If you are painting the ceiling, it is recommended to place the stripes first along, then across, so that the paint is smeared thoroughly;
  • When painting is finished, it is better not to close the garage door tightly for some time - this will allow the coating to dry faster. And if you still need to lock the gate, install a heater in your garage (a mobile version will do).

After painting the walls, the heater is installed to ensure that the room has an optimal temperature and the air remains dry within the required limits.

To eliminate possible questions, we recommend that you watch the video - how to paint the walls in the garage

Be sure to watch this video so as not to make annoying mistakes and have a clear idea of how work of this level is performed.

Now you can paint the walls in your garage without any problems - the preparation is complete

We figured out what can be used to paint the walls in the garage, and also looked at the order in which such work is carried out. Now you can safely begin painting work in your premises - and very soon the garage will be equipped exactly the way you want it. There is nothing complicated here - the most important thing in such work is that you have your desire and the necessary tools/paint materials at hand.

How to paint a metal garage and consider everything

Painting a metal garage is done by all owners. After all, without this, it will become covered with corrosion quite quickly.

We will analyze in detail how to paint a metal garage. Everything can be done with your own hands without any problems and you won’t need to invite people here and therefore the price of the work will only cost the cost of the material.

Also, after watching the video, you will understand perfectly well that there can be no difficulties in life here.

Painting a metal garage

Painting an iron garage is carried out in several stages, which are mandatory to complete the work.

  • The paint should be for external surfaces;
  • Pay attention to the temperatures it can tolerate.

Before carrying out work, the following points should be considered:

  • Garages usually contain fuel and lubricants. Based on this, paintwork materials must strictly comply with fire safety requirements.
  • The applied paint must withstand various impacts and mechanical loads well.
  • There are always gasoline vapors, exhaust gases, and so on in the room. Therefore, the coating must be resistant to aggressive chemicals.
  • Odors should be minimally absorbed by the finish.
  • When purchasing paint, it is important to monitor the optimal quality/price ratio.

The choice of paints and varnishes for garages made of brick, foam blocks and concrete slabs

The most optimal paint and varnish materials for painting a garage made of concrete, brick or stone are polymer-based paints. Moreover, each variety has its own advantages:

  • epoxy primer enamels can be applied without prior priming the surface;
  • perchlorovinyl compounds are highly resistant to low temperatures;
  • polyurethane paint for concrete has high wear resistance and resistance to chemicals;
  • water-based acrylic coatings can be applied even to fresh plaster and have high weather resistance;
  • polymer paints can be used both indoors and outdoors;
  • For outdoor work, quick-drying nitro enamels are best suited.

Painting job

Painting your garage should do more than just make it look aesthetically pleasing. It is necessary that the finishing protects the structure as much as possible from external negative influences.

Paints and varnishes for metal garages

You need to immediately decide what paint to paint your metal garage with, because there is a fairly large assortment in the retail trade. When choosing paint for work, it is important to consider the following requirements for the material.

  • The coating must contain additives to protect against corrosion.
  • The paint must withstand weather conditions well, and above all moisture.
  • Another equally important condition is the paint’s excellent resistance to temperature changes.
  • After application, the composition should dry relatively quickly.

For such purposes, enamel paint is often used. They have all the qualities described above and are able to provide the garage with excellent protection for a long period of time.

Types of paints

Modern technologies offer a huge variety of colors. They can vary according to several criteria:

  • Pricing policy (budget option or more expensive). Please note that the cost of the material will directly affect the quality of the work done.
  • Purpose . Paints can be universal, or intended for painting in certain climatic conditions (exterior or interior work).

The result of finishing directly depends on the selected material.

Completing of the work

Then you can proceed directly to the work, which consists of several stages:

  • The most important point is the purchase of material. First, you should find out how much the chosen paint, primer, remover, solvent, and so on will cost. After all, the price of finishing will largely depend on the components
  • We prepare the tools: brush, roller, if required – stepladder, sprayer, paint container;
  • If the garage has previously been painted, the old coating must be removed. This can be done using a drill with an abrasive attachment or a metal brush, wash and a hair dryer.
  • After this, sand the metal with emery cloth;
  • The surface is then degreased on its own using a solvent.
  • The metal is primed. This will help improve the adhesion of the base and paint and protect the entire surface from corrosion. The primer will also make the base level, which improves the quality of painting.
  • Once the primer is completely dry, the surface is washed with water. This is necessary to remove dust and dirt.
  • Painting the walls with a roller is done from top to bottom strictly in a vertical direction. This makes it much easier to remove drips if they appear. A spray bottle can help with this job. Then the dye will penetrate into all inaccessible places and the coating will last much longer.

Attention: The instructions say to apply each strip, slightly overlapping the previous one. In this case, the coloring will be uniform, without any transitions or omissions.

  • Complex areas such as corners and edges are painted with a brush. After twenty-four hours, the coating will dry and you can apply another coat of paint. This is done in a horizontal direction.

Paint for brick and concrete buildings

The best paint for a garage made of similar materials - all types of brick, concrete - should be polymer-based.

Each type of such compositions will have its own advantages:

  • Epoxy primer-enamels are applied without a preliminary primer base for painting;
  • Perchlorovinyl paints tolerate low temperatures well;
  • Water-emulsion acrylic compositions can be applied to freshly laid concrete, as well as plaster. Among other things, they have good weather resistance;
  • Polyurethane paint for concrete has increased wear resistance and chemical resistance.

Polymer coatings can be used not only outside the room, but also inside it. If necessary, they can be painted in any tones and shades.

For these purposes, pastes and tinting paint are used. The compositions will most reliably protect concrete walls, ceilings and floors from aggressive environments, moisture and mechanical loads. Special paints are designed to increase the service life of the base and strengthen it.

Painting a metal garage is not a complicated process, but it is quite painstaking. There's no need to rush. Make sure the surface is properly prepared. The instructions will help you not to miss anything, and after looking at the photo and drawing up a work plan, you can start working on it.

Category: Garage › Finishing, wiring, cellar Date: 2013-07-15 17:19:23 Painting a garage brings many benefits: it increases the service life of the structure, and also makes it more attractive. We have already looked at how to paint a garage

, now let’s talk about the features of choosing a paint and varnish material. It is no secret that different types of paints are made for different types of surfaces. Metal paints are even separated into a separate market segment. They can be used for any construction or major repairs; they are also used for painting a garage.

Now let's talk about what color to paint the garage.

. Theoretically, it is possible in any. But there are general principles that should be followed. For example, it is good if the car house has a color that harmonizes with nearby buildings. On the other hand, the color should be pleasant to its owner. And one more important point: try not to make the paint too bright. Poisonous red or green colors are not the best choice. In addition, after rain, dust and dirt will stick to the surface. Try to choose a paint that won't show much dirt.

Choosing paint for the garage

It is generally accepted that metal is durable and unpretentious, but it is important to understand that it is quite sensitive to temperature changes, environmental influences and humidity. The metal can corrode, causing it to become less durable and wear out quickly. Thanks to the right paints, you can protect its surface.

No matter what high-quality and expensive paint you use, it is important to treat the base with a primer mixture before applying it. Now let’s move on directly to considering the main types of paints for metal.

Oil paints can be used to paint metal surfaces. When the material hardens, it forms a film; over time, under the influence of external factors, it can dry out or disappear. This causes the paint to crack or peel. Therefore, oil-based paints are not the best choice for painting a garage.

Acrylic paints - a modern, effective material

Acrylic paints have become especially popular for painting metal substrates. They allow you to process surfaces of any area. Of course, they cost more than their oil counterparts, but their durability and strength are an order of magnitude higher. In addition, acrylic paints provide protection from temperature changes and the destructive effects of the external environment, which prevents corrosion processes.

Acrylic paint can be applied even to a small area of rust, since it contains special additives. They are the ones who stop corrosion processes and remove the resulting rust. Therefore, if you are looking for something to paint a metal garage,

take a good look at acrylic paints.

For garages that are completely covered with rust, the surface must first be treated with anti-corrosion acrylic primer, which contains a rust converter. Only after this can the base be coated with acrylic paint.

How to paint a garage: features of painting metal products, which paint is better, video and photos

When choosing what to paint the garage inside or outside, you should consider what materials it is built from.

A painted garage not only looks neat, but is also protected from external influences.

Some other important points:

  1. Fuel and lubricants are stored in garages. Based on this, paintwork materials must comply with fire safety requirements.
  2. The paint must be resistant to mechanical loads and impacts.
  3. Exhaust gases, gasoline vapors, etc. are constantly present in the room. Therefore, the coating must be resistant to chemically aggressive substances.
  4. The finish should absorb odors minimally.
  5. When purchasing paint, the optimal price/quality ratio is also important.

How to choose the right coating

In most garages with direct access to the yard, the conditions inside do not differ from the street conditions - there are constant fluctuations in temperature and humidity. For rooms where there is no heating, it is recommended to use facade dyes (for exterior work). They are more resistant to external influences and will last a long time.

No heating

If the garage is not heated, it is advisable to choose the following types of facade paints:

  • acrylic - strong, durable, the surface is additionally varnished to increase wear resistance;
  • polyurethane - reliable coating for garage walls;
  • epoxy - can withstand any type of load, heat resistant.

These dyes stay on the walls for a long time without losing their appearance and protective properties.

Heated room

If the garage is heated, the choice of possible dye options is much larger:

Note that the coating will last less, the walls will have to be repainted, but you can save on paint.

Painting works

Painting an individual parking lot should not only add aesthetics to its appearance. It is necessary that the finishing protects the building from external influences as much as possible.

Paints and varnishes for metal garages

A metal structure not protected with paint quickly rusts.

When thinking about what paint to paint a metal garage, consider the following requirements for the material.

  1. The coating must contain anti-corrosion additives.
  2. The material must be resistant to atmospheric influences and, above all, resistant to moisture.
  3. Another condition is good paint resistance to temperature changes.
  4. The composition should dry relatively quickly after application.

Enamel paints are popular at these events. They have all the qualities listed above and can provide the garage with reliable protection for a long time.

The most common are alkyd and silicone enamels.

  1. However, they are increasingly being replaced by more modern water-based acrylic paints. They are universal and suitable for painting an individual parking lot both outside and inside.
  2. Unlike alkyd and organosilicon analogues, they do not contain solvents. Therefore, they have greater environmental friendliness and fire safety.

A rusty structure can be painted with special paint.

Note! When thinking about how to paint a rusty garage, you can choose a special latex-acrylic material for such surfaces. Such coatings already contain an anti-corrosion primer, which acts on rust spots and removes them.

  1. In other cases, in order to remove rust from a garage completely covered with it, you need to treat the metal with an anti-corrosion primer. Such materials contain a rust converter.
  2. An important rule is that experts recommend buying primer and painting material from the same manufacturer. This way you will ensure the best compatibility of coatings, which will increase the quality of the final result.
  3. When thinking about how to paint a metal garage, choose the color of the coating. It’s good if the interior decoration is light. Garages do not have a large area and often have insufficient lighting. Light colors will expand the space.

Next are the stages of painting work.

Everything you need to get the job done.

  1. First you need to purchase materials . Find out in advance how much the primer, paint, solvent, remover you choose, etc. costs.
  2. Also prepare tools and equipment : roller, brush, if necessary - sprayer, stepladder, coating container, etc.

Old paint can be removed with a drill or grinder with an abrasive attachment.

  1. If the garage has already been painted, the old coating must be removed . This can be done with a drill with an abrasive attachment or a metal brush, a hair dryer, or a remover.
  2. Then the metal needs to be sanded using sandpaper..
  3. Next, degrease the surfaces with your own hands using any solvent.
  4. After this, the metal must be primed in 2/3 layers. The composition will improve the adhesion of paint and base and protect the surface from corrosion. The primer will also make the base more even, which will improve the quality of the paint.
  5. When the primer is completely dry, wash the surfaces with water to remove dirt and dust.

The photo shows the application of the first, vertical layer of paint.

  1. Paint the walls with a roller from top to bottom in a vertical direction . This will make it easier to clean up spills when they occur.

Note! The instructions recommend applying each strip of coating, slightly overlapping the previous one. This way the coloring will be uniform, without gaps or transitions.

  1. Difficult areas - edges and corners, paint with a brush . When the coating has dried after 24 hours, apply another coat of paint. Do this in a horizontal direction.

Basic requirements for paint

A well-chosen paint and varnish coating is like a second “skin” for the wall material. A comparison with a person’s clothing is appropriate: it warms and protects in cold weather, and with the right choice, your appearance will change for the better.

These criteria apply to surface painting that:

  • prevents corrosive wear of the iron sheet forming the walls or roof;
  • preserves materials, protecting them from temperature changes, high humidity, and atmospheric influences;
  • gives the entire building a “neat” look, changes the design and exterior of the facade.

The wealth of paint and varnish solutions is difficult to describe in a short period of time. The industry offers a choice of coatings for exterior and interior use, wear-resistant, bright, indelible with water and solvents, and with optical effects. Using airbrush, you can easily create any image you want on a gray wall, create a masterpiece of modern art - this is also possible. The types of paints and their purposes will be discussed further.

For outdoor use

“External” paints traditionally work in spartan conditions: they are exposed to precipitation, wind, and nature constantly tests the coating for strength. The paint layer applied to the walls from the outside must withstand temperature changes from minus to plus without consequences, not peel off, not be damaged, and maintain an unchanged appearance. Therefore, compositions for interior work are not categorically suitable for this purpose, because their tasks are different.
