Glue for non-woven wallpaper Methylane: premium adhesive powder for centuries

What glue should I use to glue non-woven wallpaper? When repairing and wallpapering, glue plays an important role. At the moment, non-woven wallpaper is very often used. It is recommended to select a special pasting agent for them. This could be adhesive for non-woven wallpaper Methylane. This company produces various wallpaper glues. But for such coatings, ultra premium non-woven (structured, for painting and also for smooth and corrugated coatings), express premium non-woven (for smooth wallpaper), premium fiberglass (for glass coatings, non-woven and structural), glue concentrate (for any type coatings).

How to proceed when diluting glue?

Let's look at how to dilute wallpaper glue, using an example.
In order for it to acquire the necessary qualities, it is important to follow the instructions exactly and do everything correctly.

  1. The first step is to take a clean and dry container in which to mix the glue. It is indicated above that the water should be at room temperature, approximately 25 degrees, but for your own comfort it is better to increase it to at least 40 degrees. It is not advisable to raise the temperature above 40.
  2. Now you should take a pack of glue and look through it. It is necessary to pour water exactly as written in the instructions, since if there is not enough water or vice versa, then the glue may not turn out at all.
  3. The glue should be poured out slowly, slowly, without interrupting stirring. Thanks to such actions, there will be no lumps in the glue.
  4. You can mix the adhesive mixture with anything. The main thing is not what to interfere with, but how. This should be done slowly and carefully until the consistency is uniform.

Types of adhesives for joints

If you want to correct some errors in a wallpapered surface, then you should consider several types of compositions. Among others, KLEO STRONG should be highlighted. This mixture is a product that consists of polyvinyl acetate and acrylic dispersion, as well as water. The material is suitable for all types of wallpaper. After purchasing it, you can immediately use it; as a result, you will be able to obtain high-quality joints that will not be damaged also for the reason that the glue is transparent.

The composition can be used not only when gluing joints, but also when gluing wallpaper in difficult places, as well as to restore peeled areas. Kleo wallpaper joint adhesive can be purchased for only 190 rubles per 80 g. Another type of product described is Quelyd Raccord. Its cost is 205 rubles. for 80 g. This ready-to-use adhesive is suitable for vinyl and paper wallpaper, as well as other wall coverings.

The mixture can also be used for gluing borders. For 50 m of surface you will need 0.08 kg. If you still cannot choose an adhesive for gluing wallpaper joints, then you may prefer the “Moment” composition. It has a paste-like consistency, is easy to apply, has low hygroscopicity and is easily adjusted. The composition is characterized by high primary adhesion, as well as versatility. To apply the glue, you need to bend the edge of the wallpaper, and then apply the mixture parallel to the joint and distribute it evenly.

At the next stage, the wallpaper is pressed well, and excess glue from the surface of the wallpaper must be removed with a damp rag. You should not start work if the thermometer drops below +10 °C. This adhesive for wallpaper joints is also good because it has high adhesive ability, is versatile and easy to use. After drying it remains completely transparent. During application, the mixture does not spread, and the convenient spout of the tube prevents unnecessary leakage of glue.

How much glue is needed: how to correctly calculate the amount of adhesive composition

Most people (and even masters) give little thought to this issue. The result of this attitude towards purchasing glue is unspent surplus that is simply thrown away. Let's figure out the required quantity. As a rule, the consumption of wallpaper glue depends entirely on the type of wallpaper being glued and the quality of wall preparation.

With the type of wallpaper, everything is clear - the heavier the wallpaper, the thicker the glue has to be diluted. Accordingly, this increases its consumption. Preparing the walls also doesn’t look difficult. Let's face it - if you want to reduce the consumption of this material, then prime the walls twice. This will reduce their ability to absorb moisture and, as a result, less glue will be needed.

What is the consumption of wallpaper glue?

Now about the factory standards - I don’t know how they calculate them, but almost always they do not correspond to reality. Most likely, this happens because some of the glue is wasted, flowing down the walls. For myself personally, I came up with my own consumption rates. One pack yields a 12-liter bucket of glue, which is enough for me to wallpaper walls with an area of about 40 sq.m.

conclusions

Methylane and Pufas products are also similar in that when stirring the dry mixture and water, lumps do not form. Due to this, the time for stirring the mixture is reduced.

The consumption of Pufas glue is almost the same as that of Methylane glue, but Methylane, unlike other brands of adhesives, is used for different types of wallpaper.

But Pufas mixtures are divided into several types, depending on what materials they are intended for. In this article we told you about the adhesive for non-woven wallpaper “Methylane” and we hope that this information will be useful to you.

Tips and tricks

When choosing and purchasing glue for finishing work, you should consider a few tips to avoid basic mistakes. The most reliable solution is one based on carboxymethylcellulose, but it is only suitable for plastered surfaces.

It is better to cover painted walls with methylcellulose-based glue with the addition of polyvinyl acetate. If you plan to use heavy paper or textile wallpaper, then the amount of polyvinyl acetate should exceed 50%.

For light-colored wallpaper, you should select a solution with an acidity value of at least 8. Otherwise, the finished solution may leave yellow spots on the surface of the material. High-quality glue dries in 18-20 seconds and becomes transparent, after which it takes time to dry completely. When carrying out repairs in rooms with high humidity, it is recommended to use substances with special antiseptic additives that provide protection against the development of mold and mildew.

Types and technical characteristics

There are different types of wallpaper glue, so in order not to get confused when choosing a product, you need to understand the specifics of each. Then choosing a product will be easier. Wallpaper is made from different materials, so adhesive mixtures are created that are suitable for certain types. More details about the types on the market will be written below.

Wallpaper is made from different materials, so adhesive mixtures are created that are suitable for certain types.

Universal PVA

Universal PVA is most often used when gluing paper or vinyl types. Since these types are the most popular among wallpapers, compositions suitable for them are also popular. PVA is distinguished by its safe composition, it does not emit toxic substances, and creates a reliable fixation of the canvas to the surface. It is resistant to moisture, low temperatures and fire.

Bustilat

Bustilate glue for paper wallpaper is also suitable. The composition uses latex, chalk, thickener, CMC, water and other additives. When applied it has a white or grayish tint, but after complete drying it becomes transparent.

What is important when the wallpaper is made of paper, because when using light wallpaper, the appearance of any shade can become noticeable. No yellow spots appear on the surface

The glue consumption is economical, which allows you to save money.

CMC grade drilling adhesive

CMC-based glue is also suitable for paper wallpaper. The powder has a white or pinkish tint. You need to choose light or heavy for specific fabrics based on the amount of carboxymethylcellulose; with a larger amount, the viscosity of the product will be better. Drying takes longer than similar products, but this is justified by obtaining better adhesive properties.

Vinyl glue

This type, as the name suggests, is often used for gluing vinyl wallpaper. At the same time, the composition does not contain vinyl itself; the composition depends on the manufacturer, they can vary greatly. In high-quality options, methylcellulose is used as a base. In more budget KMK, or GPC with additional elements. The low cost of the second type is the only plus; the connection to the surface will not be reliable.

Non-woven glue

The composition for non-woven wallpaper is based on MK or starch. Most of the options on the market are distinguished by high adhesion rates, while some brands add polymer adhesives to the composition, which makes the adhesion indicators the best. Also added to the mixture are elements that prevent the formation of mold and fungi on the wall, and special color indicators that help distribute the adhesive solution evenly.

For fiberglass and fabric coverings

Glue for heavy wallpapers, such as fabric and fiberglass, is dispersed. Fiberglass wallpaper has significant weight, so special requirements are placed on adhesive properties. Also, such compositions are frost-resistant and water-resistant. Therefore, they can be used in rooms with high humidity, such as the kitchen and bathroom. Most types of adhesives for these wallpapers are created to be environmentally friendly and protected from biological formations.

General description and purpose

CMC glue is produced at chemical plants based on cellulose. If you decipher the abbreviation CMC itself, you get the word - carboxymethylcellulose. In addition to the cellulose processing product, the glue contains anti-caking agents and antifungal agents. All components, although of synthetic origin, do not cause harm to health.

CMC is designed for gluing various types of wallpaper to any surface (concrete, plaster, wood). Several types of glue are produced. They differ in the percentage of carboxymethylcellulose sodium salt (the higher this figure, the greater the adhesive ability of the glue).

CMC is added to cement mixtures and gypsum putties to increase their strength. This product is used in various industrial sectors. The glue has the appearance of a loose powdery snow-white powder. If the CMC is yellow, it means the product has long expired.

CMC is the most popular repair product due to its ease of use and low cost. Before use, the glue is diluted with water in the dosage specified in the instructions. Then it is left to swell (depending on the type of CMC) for 15 minutes or 2-3 hours. The finished mixture resembles a colorless, gelatinous, viscous mass. The solution never forms clots or lumps, has no odor, and does not leave yellowish stains on the wallpaper. The viability of a 4 percent mixture is as much as seven days.

Benefits of Metylan

Experts unanimously recommend buying products from this manufacturer for some reasons. So:

  • consumption and uniformity are determined by a color indicator;
  • ease of preparation, without any special clots;
  • Each pack contains clear instructions that even a beginner can handle;
  • versatility, can be suitable for all types of coatings;
  • no odor;
  • the solution will be ready after 5-7 minutes of mixing;
  • allows the canvas to slide, joining the strips straight;
  • low cost;
  • resistance to high temperature changes.

Price issue

The cost of glue will depend on its quality, type and manufacturer. Foreign-made wallpaper paste traditionally costs an order of magnitude more than domestically produced ones. We have selected the most popular and widespread wallpaper adhesives in our country and compared their costs:

Basic principle: the cheapest adhesives are for paper wallpaper, the most expensive are for fiberglass. Packages with greater weight are more economical. If you need to wallpaper a fairly large area, it is more profitable to buy a package weighing 500 grams than two - 250 grams each.

Some still believe that since the basis of wallpaper paste is starch, you can not buy ready-made mixtures at all, but make the paste yourself. For those budget-conscious homeowners, here is a simple recipe for homemade wallpaper glue.

For 10 liters of finished paste, you will need approximately 1 kilogram of ordinary rye or wheat flour or flour dust and any starch, for example, corn, potato or maize. Flour and starch previously sifted through a sieve should be diluted with water to the consistency of thick sour cream, stirring constantly - the danger of lumps appearing is very high. Then the paste is brewed, that is, brought to a boil. To increase the adhesive power, some recommend adding wood glue to the paste, but it can cause yellow spots to appear on the wallpaper. Therefore, it is better to use about 100 grams of regular PVA. To prevent the paste under the wallpaper from rotting, you can also add 50 grams of alum or 25 grams of 0.25% carbolic acid per 10 liters of paste.

Remember that it is difficult to guess the consistency and amount of PVA needed for reliable adhesion. The paste is stored for a very short time - it has the best adhesive properties immediately after brewing and cooling. Homemade wallpaper glue can come in handy if you haven’t calculated the amount of what you bought, but you want to re-glue the wallpaper right now. In other cases, frankly speaking, this is impractical - you will spend a lot of time, and taking into account the affordable cost of ready-made glue, you will not save that much.

Useful tips

Prepare in advance everything you might need:

  • a clean container, preferably about 10 liters in volume;
  • water at room temperature;
  • stirring spatula, measuring spoon;
  • drill, mixer.
  • Let's start preparing the glue and follow the proportions indicated on the package.
  • Stirring the water with a stick, pour out the required amount of powder in a thin stream. Then we connect a drill or a regular mixer and achieve an even consistency, without a single lump.
  • We always breed only one half of the box. Then, if necessary, a second one. It’s better to add glue in the first half hour, then it will swell, it will be difficult to stir it evenly, and there will be lumps in the water that you don’t need.

  • There is a little trick when diluting glue. Use only one mixer attachment. With its help, the mixture will be evenly mixed and nothing will fly around the container.
  • When the glue is completely ready, leave it for 15-20 minutes so that it swells well.

Wallpaper adhesive Methylane, a short review

  1. Glue
  2. Advantages and disadvantages
  3. Range
  4. Reviews

The Henkel company is known in Russia for its adhesive products. It has been present on our construction market for more than 15 years and represents the Moment, Ekon and Methylan brands.

This wallpaper glue is perhaps one of the most popular in our country.

Today we will talk about Methylane wallpaper adhesive, which occupies the premium segment of the construction adhesives market. This adhesive is recommended in many television programs because it is suitable for paper, vinyl and non-woven wallpaper.

Glue

Methylane is produced in Germany, where finished raw materials are produced under the watchful eye of engineers. The constant introduction of new technologies allows us to maintain our brand and regularly improve product quality by adding new functionality.

Next, the raw materials are loaded into large containers and sent to us. Metylan is already packaged in the Russian Federation, in the city of Tosno, where a special processing plant was built for this purpose.

A very laconic motto, not without bragging

Methylane brand wallpaper adhesive is available in a wide range; it can be used to easily glue various types of wallpaper to the wall: paper, vinyl, non-woven, glass wallpaper. Many wallpaper manufacturers speak well of this adhesive composition and even recommend it to consumers.

Methylane glue has earned such trust, of course, for its high and constant quality, as well as a wide range of other various advantages.

Advantages and disadvantages

Let's immediately begin listing the advantages of glue.

Well-designed packaging, which indicates the composition, consumption, instructions for use, and recommendations for wallpapering. Professional craftsmen say that the glue consumption is clearly adjusted, which distinguishes Metylan glue from its analogues.

Basic composition for the simplest type of wallpaper

Inside the box, the glue is sealed in a bag. The adhesive composition is a homogeneous friable powder, which must subsequently be diluted with water. This powder is created on the basis of special, modified starch with various additives to combat fungus and mold.

When diluted with water, no clots or lumps are formed; the main thing is to pour the glue calmly, gently stirring the solution. It is advisable to dilute a sufficient amount of adhesive immediately.

There are two solutions available for popular wallpaper

The glue does not need to settle for a long time, 3-5 minutes is enough and the composition is ready for use, a very good indicator for a professional adhesive composition. For non-woven wallpaper, the composition takes a little longer to prepare, but also very quickly.

Adhesive for paper, vinyl, non-woven and other wallpapers of the Methylane brand has no odor, even when diluted and applied to the wallpaper or wall.

Methylane produces most types of glue with an indicator. The indicator is the pink color of the glue. As you probably already guessed, this is done so that you do not leave dry places on the wallpaper.

Wallpapering with this type of glue is carried out at a higher quality, which is especially important when gluing vinyl wallpaper.

There are several solutions for the most popular wallpapers

Once the glue is ready to work, it becomes transparent, now you can glue the canvases to the wall.

Wallpaper glue interacts well with the wall; it immediately grabs the wallpaper, but makes it possible to align it and match the pattern

When gluing non-woven wallpaper, this is a prerequisite, because the canvas itself does not smear, but when gluing smeared paper or vinyl sheets, this property of the adhesive composition is very important

Rare but very specific wallpapers require special attention

The disadvantages of Methylane glue are as follows:

  • the cost of Methylane wallpaper glue is quite high, not everyone will choose it, despite its popularity and quality;
  • the glue dries quite quickly on the wall, so non-professionals should always be on alert and do everything in a bit of a hurry;
  • The shelf life is only two years, although such dry mixtures most often have a 5-year warranty.

Range

On store shelves you can find various types of Metylan:

This is what the entire line of wallpaper glue looks like

  • Methylane universal premium, best suited for various paper wallpapers;
  • Methylane vinyl premium, specializes in vinyl canvases, it is very easy to hang heavy vinyl wallpaper with it;
  • Methylane non-woven (ultra and express premium), suitable for gluing heavy wallpaper on a non-woven backing;
  • Methylane glass fiber premium, produced for gluing walls with glass wallpaper;
  • Methylane is ovalite, produced not in dry, but in liquid form, it is used for gluing heavy wallpaper.

As you can see, every type of wallpaper has its own Methylane glue, so don’t experiment, take the right composition.

Product range

Presented with the following products:

  1. Universal, suitable mainly for paper webs.
  2. Vinyl classic - for heavy vinyl wallpaper.
  3. For fiberglass.
  4. Methylane glue for wallpaper joints , if there are small areas left that need to be glued.
  5. Liquid solution, available in ready-made form, intended for heavy canvases.

Reasons for discrepancies in wallpaper

To know how to eliminate the possibility of wallpaper discrepancies even before the start of repairs, you need to familiarize yourself with the main causes of this problem. Home craftsmen usually encounter this difficulty when the wallpaper glue does not match the thickness and material of the wallpaper used. The canvases may be too thick or heavy, this also applies to vinyl two-layer material. Quite often, the canvases diverge if the following types of wallpaper are used during repairs:

  • fiberglass;
  • non-woven;
  • on a textile basis.

They require the use of highly adhesive glue.

Wallpaper glue: types and purpose

There are only three main types of wallpaper glue - glue for light paper-based wallpaper, for heavy wallpaper, and universal, which is equally suitable for both heavy and light wallpaper. In addition, a separate group of wallpaper glue includes glue for non-woven wallpaper and glass wallpaper. Now let's talk in more detail about all these types and their purpose.

  1. Adhesive for lightweight paper-based wallpaper - it can be called highly specialized, since it cannot cope with other types of wallpaper. To be honest, such glue is practically no longer produced - instead, professional finishers use universal glue prepared accordingly.
  2. Glue for heavy types of wallpaper - it is based on the well-known PVA glue. If we are talking about gluing vinyl wallpaper, then this is exactly the glue that you need. Many manufacturers label this product this way - for example, Metylan simply calls it “Vinyl”. Using this glue you can also stick light paper-based wallpaper. True, it is irrational to use it in this way, since it is the most expensive type of wallpaper glue.
  3. Universal wallpaper glue. According to the manufacturer, you can use it to stick almost any wallpaper. There is one “but” here - as you know, there are no completely universal building materials. The situation is exactly the same with this glue. It turns out that universal wallpaper adhesive has a middle selection of components that glue some types of wallpaper a little better, and others a little worse. It can be used for light wallpaper, with stretch for non-woven wallpaper and in the same way for vinyl. Again, it all depends on how you prepare this glue. In my opinion, it is better to use specialized glue, the composition of which is carefully selected for a particular type of wallpaper.
  4. Wallpaper adhesive for non-woven wallpaper – brands “Metylan” and “Quelyd” and so they label it “Fliz”. Why do I mention these glue brands so often? It's simple - today these are the highest quality and inexpensive products of this type - they skillfully combine the optimal price and good quality. Glue for non-woven wallpaper is highly specialized - in addition to the wallpaper for which it is intended, it can only be used to glue light paper-based wallpaper.
  5. Glue for glass wallpaper is usually a dispersion adhesive with improved characteristics. It is used not only for glass wallpaper - it also holds fabric wallpaper, better known as textile, well. You should know that wallpaper glued with such compounds cannot be easily removed from the walls - you will need special solvents.

In addition, there is a very interesting type of glue called “indicator”. With the help of special coloring additives, it is given a light pink tint, which allows you to control the uniformity of the wall or canvas. This dye does not bleed through the wallpaper and does not leave stains. During the drying process, it is simply neutralized.

General information

Pros of Methylane wallpaper glue

Methylane glue has the following positive qualities:

  1. Glues well;

  2. It is easy to apply;
  3. Methylane adhesive for non-woven wallpaper does not contain harmful substances that can be harmful to human health;
  4. Easy to breed. The mixture is obtained without lumps;
  5. When dry, it does not leave streaks or stains on the surface;
  6. Economical;
  7. Does not react with paint;
  8. The shelf life of the finished glue is about ten days.

This means that this glue can be used even by a person who has no experience in gluing wallpaper. The glue has such a composition that when gluing wallpaper, it does not set immediately, and therefore, if non-woven wallpaper is applied incorrectly, everything can be corrected. By the way, the glue must be diluted within ten minutes.

Properties

Methylane glue is suitable for different types of non-woven wallpaper and for this reason it is used by many owners of apartments and houses. If you look at the composition of the glue, you will find that it does not contain components that can harm human health.

The glue mixture contains mainly two components:

  1. Simple resin and
  2. methylcellulose.

Resin is a natural material and therefore it is not capable of harming the human body. Methylcellulose is a synthetic material, but it also does not have any adverse effects on human health. This ingredient does not react with concrete and therefore adhesive for non-woven wallpaper is used for finishing :

  • Kindergarten premises;
  • Apartments for people with poor health;
  • For children's rooms.

Price

The price of Methylane glue is not budget, but it is worth buying because its composition is superior to all cheap adhesive mixtures. The consistency of “Methylane” depends on the type of wallpaper chosen.

For example, ten kilograms of the adhesive mixture obtained from eight hundred grams of dry product will be enough for sixty-six square meters of non-woven wallpaper, seventy-five square meters of structured wallpaper and fifty square meters of fiberglass wallpaper.

If you apply glue to the surface with a brush, then its consumption will be large, and the glue consumption also depends on the surface itself. For example, if the walls are not primed, then the glue consumption will be high. To cover the walls with high quality, you need to prepare them first. To do this, the walls should first be leveled, then puttied and the final stage of wall preparation is primer.

Before hanging wallpaper, you need to inspect the walls; there should be no greasy stains on them, otherwise over time they may appear on the wallpaper. If you are gluing wallpaper for painting, you must wait until the wallpaper is completely dry. If you plan a large amount of work, then you need to buy large packs of adhesive mixture.

Cooking algorithm

Wallpaper glue is produced today in the form of peculiar flakes, which, when mixed with water, swell and form a mixture similar to a gel or jelly.

The glue preparation technology consists of the following sequential steps:

  • First of all, you need to measure the required amount of clean water. Sometimes experts recommend using a slightly warm liquid, since the mixture can dissolve better in it.
  • Afterwards, the required volume of solution is measured. To do this, it is advisable to use a measuring cup to maintain all proportions.

Before diluting the glue with water, it is advisable to use a stick to make rotational movements to force the liquid to move in one direction. After this, small portions of the flakes are poured into the container.

It is important to constantly rotate the stick to prevent the glue from sticking. When the flakes have all dissolved and a gel has begun to form, you can finish stirring the mixture. After this, it is left for 5-15 minutes.

This is necessary so that the remaining components can swell and acquire the desired consistency.

Upon completion of preparation, you can apply the solution to the wallpaper or wall

Please note that it is not advisable to store the mixture for a long time, as it will lose its properties. Therefore, try to calculate as accurately as possible the required amount of the required volume of adhesive.

Instructions for use

When working with Methylane non-woven glue, you must be careful. So first you need to take cold water and dry glue mixture in the required proportions.

  1. Then the adhesive mixture is poured into cold water gradually, stirring everything constantly.
  2. After three minutes the glue will be ready.

  3. Granular adhesives are prepared in the same way, but in order for the composition to be ready, you must wait seven minutes.

  4. The finished glue can be stored for up to ten days in a well-closed container.
  5. It is necessary to apply glue to a previously cleaned surface.
  6. Any roll of wallpaper describes how to apply the adhesive mixture; it can be applied only to the wallpaper or only to the wall.
  7. Use a roller to spread the glue over the wallpaper or walls.
  8. And with a clean roller or rag, the wallpaper is pressed against the wall and smoothed, expelling air to the edges.
  9. Excess glue is removed with a damp soft sponge.

There are also adhesives from other manufacturers for non-woven wallpaper, and the Pufas mixture is considered the most worthy. This composition also contains a component such as methylcellulose, which means that there will be reliable adhesion of the wallpaper to the wall.

How long can it be stored diluted?

Often in the process of finishing and repair work, situations arise when there is significantly more glue than was needed. For this reason, the question arises about how long the prepared solution can be stored.

When purchasing adhesive composition in a dry state, it is important to always pay attention to the production date, which is indicated on the packaging. A substance that has expired should not be purchased, as its characteristics and storage ability are significantly deteriorated.

The diluted solution can stand for 7-10 days if a number of conditions are met. This includes:

  • low ambient temperature, but not lower than 0 degrees;
  • keeping the solution in a tightly or hermetically sealed container;
  • absence of foreign objects inside the container with the mixture, including rollers and brushes.

Before using wallpaper glue again, you should mix it thoroughly. A new solution and especially products from other manufacturers with a different composition should not be added to the preserved mixture.

When stored at standard room temperature (within 18-24 degrees), diluted glue can be good for no more than one week. It should be understood that the specific storage duration directly depends on the manufacturer and composition. In any case, it is not recommended to use a solution diluted more than a week ago. You should also avoid using it if a pungent, unpleasant odor appears.

You can notice the deterioration of the glue by the changed consistency - the water will peel off from the main composition, and the solution itself will thicken in the form of flakes or lumps. If after long-term storage the solution has become too liquid, then it is pointless to use it for work, since the wallpaper will not stick to the walls.

The best option is to dilute the composition for gluing walls in the required minimum quantity. In this case, it will always be possible to use a freshly prepared solution with high characteristics. If the glue has already been diluted and there is a need to postpone repair work for a while, it is enough to cover the solution hermetically under cling film and stir well before application. There is no need to put the glue in a cool place for several hours. This recommendation is also relevant when leaving the solution overnight.

Care and supervision of couplings

When accepting shifts, couplings are inspected in cases where this is indicated in the technical operation rules for certain types of equipment. During inspections you must:

  • check whether the fit of the coupling halves on the shafts is broken;
  • check (by tapping) the tightness of the bolted fasteners at the coupling connector;
  • inspect the condition and fastening of the coupling casings.

At least once every 10-15 days, check the presence of oil in gear couplings and top up to the control level. To check the amount of oil in the coupling, it is recommended to fill the coupling with a measured amount of lubricant and turn it so that the oil appears at the filler hole (Figure 6.3). This position must be marked with a punch at the top point of the flange in order to know in the future the position of the coupling for filling with oil. It is not allowed to operate gear couplings in which, due to wear of the seals, splashing (leakage) of lubricant occurs during operation. The teeth of couplings with serpentine springs are lubricated at least once every 15 days.

Cleo wallpaper glue - a good alternative to Methylane

CLEO can be used for vinyl, textile, non-woven and glass wallpaper. It is easy to apply, allows you to move the canvas over the surface, matching the pattern, does not leave stains, and contains special additives that prevent the appearance of mold. Cleo adhesive for non-woven wallpaper is applied only to the wall, the canvases remain dry. Thanks to this, you can match the drawing with maximum accuracy. Non-woven wallpaper does not deform during the gluing process, and during subsequent repairs, only the top layer can be removed.

The base remaining on the wall forms a flat surface. Wallpaper with a non-woven backing does a good job of masking cracks that have appeared on the wall. They can be glued to absolutely all materials.

Instructions for use:

  1. It is very easy to prepare: pour the required volume of water into a basin or bucket, add the dry mixture.
  2. After five minutes, thoroughly stir the glue until a homogeneous mass is formed.
  3. Using a roller or brush, apply it to the wall and apply the first sheet, smoothing it with a dry cloth and removing any air bubbles.
  4. Remove excess with a clean sponge soaked in water.
  5. The next sheet is glued end-to-end.
  6. Painting can be done two hours after gluing.

The price of the glue is higher than conventional Russian products intended for gluing walls with roll materials, but it is fully justified by its impeccable quality. And the finished result will delight you with its beauty for a long time.

How to glue correctly

Remnants of old coatings, dust and moisture need to be removed from the walls. It is better if the surfaces are treated with a primer before repairing. Applying the adhesive composition to the walls or the roll itself depends on the requirements of the instructions (special icon with a brush).

It is better to apply it to the walls with a roller. The width of the layer should be slightly larger than the size of the roll so that the edges adhere well. The thickness of the applied solution should be about 2 mm. In this case, the glued sheet can be moved or aligned. If you need to cover wallpaper with the product, apply it with a brush in an even layer and fold it inward. The absorption period of the glue is indicated in the instructions for use and the time itself must be observed.

In order for the stripes to run smoothly, the first one must be glued along a pre-drawn vertical line, while simultaneously smoothing out the internal bubbles. The length of the strip should be 5 cm greater than the height of the wall, and the excess (after leveling) is cut off both at the top and bottom. After the final strip alignment, you can begin processing the next one. It is better to remove excess glue with a soft cloth or sponge.

Distinctive features of good glue

A high-quality adhesive solution affects the result of the work performed and the strength of the wallpaper on the walls. Having decided on the required type of glue, you should familiarize yourself with its detailed characteristics in order to choose products of the appropriate quality. Most buyers simply prefer glue produced by famous manufacturers, but it is better to use an integrated approach.

Environmental friendliness

The absence of harmful components in the product affects the safety of the environment and human health. If chemical impurities were used to produce the glue, it may be harmful, so you will need to wear a protective mask when working to avoid inhaling caustic substances. As a rule, most manufacturers producing environmentally friendly solutions indicate the corresponding marking on the packaging in the form of a green icon.

Hygiene

The hygiene indicator is largely similar and is related to the environmental friendliness of the product. The hygiene criterion is determined taking into account the composition of the glue, the absence of a strong odor and the impact on humans. The substance has good hygiene, has a mild odor and is non-toxic.

pH value

The acid-base pH indicator is needed to determine the likelihood of yellow spots appearing, which is especially important when using wallpaper made in light colors. To prevent stains from appearing on the material, the substance must have a neutral acidity level. It is recommended to choose an adhesive with a pH value in the range of 6-7, regardless of the type of surface being treated.

Primary adhesion

Initial adhesion, which is determined by the adhesion force, expresses the strength of the connection between the wallpaper and the base at the moment when the glue has not yet dried and formed a solid layer. At this stage of wallpaper gluing, position adjustments are made to align the patterns and joints evenly. The role of primary adhesion is only to fix the wallpaper on the surface until final adhesion occurs. The indicator depends solely on the consistency and viscosity of the glue and is not related to the composition and type of raw materials used for production.

Final adhesion

The final adhesion of the substance determines the strength of the connection of the wallpaper to the surface after the glue has completely dried. The indicator depends on the ability of the glue to interact with mineral materials, including cement, lime, chalk, gypsum, as well as paper and other types of substrates used in wallpaper. The final adhesion is influenced by the composition of the adhesive solution, the type of base and wallpaper.

Water resistance

Resistance to water determines the ability of the adhesive not to soften when exposed to excessive atmospheric humidity. A waterproof product should be used when performing repair and finishing work in the bathroom, kitchen and industrial premises.

Compatibility

The compatibility of the adhesive with other materials allows you to mix various substances without mutually degrading their characteristics. The compatibility indicator depends on the type of surface being treated and the adhesive components. When choosing a substance, you need to know exactly what surface the work will be done on in order to select the appropriate adhesive.

Durability

The duration of fixation of wallpaper on the surface depends on the long-term gluing indicator. Modern adhesive solutions can hold the coating for many years, but if low-quality raw materials are used, the wallpaper begins to peel off from the walls.
