Yunis tile adhesive review of brands, characteristics, reviews

If earlier craftsmen used their own cement-sand mortar to lay tiles, today there are special ready-made mixtures for this, which can only be diluted with water. At the same time, the quality of the result will be noticeably higher, because the proportions of the composition are adjusted to the gram. All you need is to make the solution the right consistency. One of these mixtures is Eunice Plus.

Yunis tile adhesive

Purpose

Suitable for installation indoors with medium or high humidity. Therefore, Eunice glue can also be used for bathrooms. The composition is also effectively used for outdoor work, only above the basement level. It can also be used for cladding “complex” bases.

Glue tiles using Eunice glue

The basis of this adhesive composition is gray Portland cement with the addition of various esters, and quartz sand is used as a filler. It does not contain asbestos fibers, therefore it is considered safe and environmentally friendly.

The adhesive has high adhesion to the tiles and to the base, so this brand is considered universal for arranging walls or floors. Recommended substrates for using this adhesive are brick, concrete, aerated concrete, gypsum panels and partitions made of light blocks.

Characteristics

These parameters are quite impressive. Thus, the composition can be used in a wide range of temperatures: from minus fifty to plus seventy degrees. At the same time, frost resistance is more than thirty-five cycles.

The weight of the tiles that are held by the composition is one hundred kilograms per square meter of area.

From the point of view of ease of working with the mixture, all indicators are also normal. So, the solution is viable for three hours. However, laying the tiles should take twenty minutes, and adjusting its position – ten. Within a day you can walk on the products.

The glue is packaged in 25 kg bags. For such an amount you need about 4.5-6.5 liters of liquid.

Work can be performed at normal temperatures: from plus five to plus thirty degrees. With a layer thickness of 3-15 mm, the material consumption will be about four kilograms per square meter.

It should be noted that all presented characteristics and further information are not simply provided by the manufacturer, but are also based on reviews from those users who have had experience with such glue.

Benefits of use

The manufacturing company guarantees the high quality of its products. According to representatives of the brand, the production of adhesive compositions is carried out using modern high-precision equipment and proven raw materials. The key advantages of Eunice glue include:

  • high adhesion characteristics;
  • ensuring reliable adhesion to almost any base on which tile products are laid;
  • maintaining the performance characteristics of the adhesive composition at high temperatures and negative temperatures (from -5 to +30°);
  • the presence in the company’s line of adhesives that have increased frost resistance, therefore their use in harsh climatic conditions is allowed;
  • environmental safety of products;
  • compliance of adhesive compositions with all industry standards, international and Russian standards;
  • the possibility of using products during construction and repair work in medical institutions, kindergartens, schools;
  • relatively low consumption (about 2.5-3 kg per m2).

It is difficult to talk about general disadvantages, because each composition presented by the manufacturer has its own characteristics, area of use and features.

Properties

Why can this adhesive be used effectively to create complex surfaces? The point is that it provides improved adhesive strength. Thanks to this, safe installation using the top-down method is even possible.

This composition can also be used on surfaces that heat up, including “warm floor” technology. The heating temperature can be up to seventy degrees.

The plastic properties of Unis tile adhesive make it comfortable to use at work. When the composition gains strength, its properties are fully preserved even at low temperatures or interaction with water.

This positive picture of characteristics is complemented by the fact that Eunice glue is absolutely harmless. When working with it, as well as during operation, the material does not emit harmful substances.

Consumers about Unis products

To objectively evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of Eunice dry mixes, we collected reviews from consumers who used glue from a domestic manufacturer:

  • To finish the walls in the bathroom I used Eunice Basin glue. I laid tiles on old tiles and was pleased with the result. So far, all the tiles are in place, not a single one has come loose;
  • I was not satisfied with the quality of the glue we produced. Just yesterday I was almost hit by a tile falling off the wall. True, friends who used the same glue claim that I could have gotten a fake. I don’t know if this is true or not, but I’m unlikely to risk using glue for Unis again;
  • I have been working as a builder for more than 10 years and during this time I have become convinced of the quality of cement-based adhesives. Among the entire line of Unis products, it seems to me that the best option is Unis Plus.

Surface preparation

As in many other cases, in this case the base must be sufficiently dry, strong, and also level. Even before working with the material, defects and loose elements should be removed. All these defects contribute to the deterioration of surface adhesion properties.

The preparation must be carried out in relation to the vertical or horizontal. An error of one millimeter per meter of surface length is allowed.

If there is a defect larger than 1 cm on the wall, floor or ceiling, it is important to use special plaster. Then prime the surface in several layers.

Another important advantage of Unis glue is that neither the tile nor the surface should be wetted with water. Clutch performance does not suffer from this.

Review of manufacturers of similar products

Review of manufacturers of similar adhesive solutions
In addition to the Unis company, bona fide manufacturers of dry mixtures for laying tiles also include:

  • Kilto. The Finnish manufacturer produces both dry mixtures and ready-made solutions. Kilto products are not afraid of the aggressive influence of the environment, so they are recommended for finishing complex bases in rooms with a specific microclimate - bathrooms, swimming pools, open areas, etc.;
  • Mapei. Italian-made glue has a long working time - at least 5 hours, during which it is possible to veneer fairly large premises. The manufacturer adds special components to the dry mixtures that prevent the solution from hardening quickly;
  • Moment. The German factory for the production of mortar compositions produces products with high adhesion and plasticity. Due to this, it is possible to cover fairly uneven surfaces with the ability to level out height differences of up to 20 mm.

Unis glue is a relatively inexpensive but high-quality material that can be used for finishing surfaces with specific indoor conditions. Depending on the type of base, relative humidity and temperature conditions, you can purchase mixtures with certain physical and mechanical properties.

Preparing the solution

Tools and containers for work must be clean. First, pour water, then gradually add the mixture at the rate of 1 kg per 200 g of water. Mix very thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mass. Mixing time is up to five minutes. Next, you should give the solution the same amount of time to settle. It is recommended to stir the composition again before use.

How to do mixing? To do this, you can use your hands with a trowel and spatula or a special mixer. A drill with a mixer attachment is also suitable for such purposes. As mentioned, the resulting amount of glue must be consumed within 3 hours.

It is important to maintain the correct proportions, then the characteristics declared by the manufacturer will not be distorted.

How to do?

You need to apply the glue with a spatula or trowel. A mixture with a thickness of 0.3 to 1.5 cm is applied to the surface using a notched trowel.

The tile is laid on the glue and pressed. In this case, the contact of its back surface and the Eunice solution should be maximum.

The solution is applied to an area that can be covered in twenty minutes. And over the next ten minutes, you can change the position of the tile as necessary.

Grouting can be done within 24 hours. If a “warm floor” is created using the Eunice Plus mixture, it can only be used after twenty-eight hours.
