Application of primer using pneumatic spray

The latter type of application reduces primer consumption. It is recommended to cover the surface progressively, covering small areas, no more than m² at a time. This treatment will allow you to see whether the entire area is covered with a protective composition.

The application technology is influenced by the established microclimate in the room, the humidity level in which should be no more than 65%, and the temperature should not exceed 25 ° C. Storage, safety and certification

Manufacturer's warranty – at least 6 months. For safety, use a respirator and gloves when applying the product. Goggles are needed for protection if the primer is applied with a spray gun. Provide constant ventilation in the room. Keep the product away from fire. As for the quality of products, it is confirmed by certificates of conformity, certificate of hygienic certification and other documents. All product batches have a quality certificate. Standardization is carried out in accordance with GOST 25129-82.

To ensure that the product retains its characteristics and provides coating protection, follow the product storage rules. Be sure to store the product in the original container, closed, in a cool place, protected from water and heat, and ultraviolet radiation. The treated surfaces are metal and wood, onto which it is planned to apply paint and varnish compositions containing enamels. Depending on the characteristics of the primer, the correctness of which is regulated by the established GOST standard, and the type of surface being treated, the material consumption is regulated and recorded.

Features of priming wooden and metal surfaces

Wood priming is intended to fill pores and cracks in such a surface in order to save paint consumption during subsequent application, as well as to level the treated layers. The primer also helps to improve the performance properties of wood and its wear resistance.

The main purpose of using metal primers is to provide protection against corrosion.

Here the primer acts as a barrier or insulation from the chemical oxidation reaction under the influence of oxygen and water vapor, since paint coatings do not provide reliable protection against moisture penetration. The zinc white contained in the primer, forming water-insoluble soaps, helps slow down the rate of the destructive process of metal corrosion.

Mode of application

Before priming work, the surface of the metal or wood is cleaned of contaminants (dust, dirt, etc.). When working with metals, they are cleaned of corrosion; it is recommended to do this using rust converters, which, when dry, form a special film that reduces material consumption when painting. Next, the surface is degreased. To do this, use gasoline or acetone. But remember that when applied to a surface larger than 1 m² in an enclosed area, these compounds may ignite. The primer is applied to the degreased surface only after 6 hours, otherwise there is a risk of rust reappearing. Before covering with a layer of soil, the tree must be plastered.

Preparing to start working

In order for the soil to fully comply with the stated requirements, it is necessary to carry out a set of metal preparation procedures. These measures comply with state standard 9.402-2004.

According to this adopted regulation, it is necessary to degrease metal surfaces before working with GF-021. There are also several degrees of protection, which depend on what is applied to the surface. If it is ordinary enamel or paint, the primer must have a third degree of hardening according to standard 19007. In the case where it is necessary to apply a fire-resistant composition, then standard 19007 regulates the fifth degree of drying of the soil.

If you try to apply the base composition to wet soil, the surface will subsequently lose its appearance and protective properties.

Where else is glypthal primer used?

Primer brand GF 021 is used not only for processing wooden surfaces and metal. It is suitable for coating glass, concrete, ceramics, and plastic. However, the greater the porosity of the materials, the more primer is spent to cover m² of surface. The primer provides high resistance of metals to corrosion and protects various types of wood from mold, providing them with the most effective adhesion. As a result of proper application, complete drying and sanding, the layer of paint or enamel will lie perfectly flat on the primer, and subsequent peeling, swelling and cracking will not occur on the surface. Enamels marked GF, PF, AS, KO, NTs, HV or acrylic paints are used as coloring compositions. Before applying varnish or paint to the base, you should think about the strength and shelf life of future coatings. To increase these indicators, you must first use a primer, and then enamel substances. The technical characteristics and consumption rates of the GF 021 primer are confirmation that all surfaces during external and/or internal finishing work will be under reliable protection. Depending on the type of primer, the result will be a deep or shallow application.

Preparation and application

At the preparatory stage, the product itself and the surface are brought to the desired state. Preparing the base:

  • The previously varnished or painted base is cleaned.
  • Sand with hand sanding tools or a machine.
  • Degrease. To do this you will need a solvent and a rag.
  • Treated with a rust converter.

This stage is required when priming structures made of ferrous metals that already show signs of corrosion. Once applied to a rusty base, the converter transforms rust into a film in 2-6 hours. Conversion time depends on the humidity level and temperature in the room. The product can be applied with a brush, spray gun, roller or other tools.

GF 021 is applied to an already cleaned and dry surface with a construction roller or spray. In the latter option, make sure that there is no surface film on the primer, due to which the sprayer becomes clogged. Otherwise, it is removed.

To use a brush, it is not necessary to dilute the product.

For the primer, use no more than 25% solvent by weight of the product. The primer is applied to the base at a special temperature – above +5°C. It is also possible to apply a primer to the base using a sprayer in an electric field. In this case, RE-4V is used as a solvent.

If two layers are required, keep the product thickness to 30-40 microns.

Features of use

There are quite a few ways to apply the composition in question:

  • pneumatic atomization
  • jet dousing
  • airless dispersion
  • brush
  • perhaps even dipping in primer

Before you start using the brown primer GF-021, it must be diluted with a solution such as a solvent (a solvent, the main component of which is white alcohol - a ratio of 1:1, can also be used for such purposes). It is necessary to dilute until the composition becomes viscous.

In the event that products are painted by spraying, a thinner must be added to it. The soil dries on the surface within 24 hours (if the temperature is not lower than 20 degrees Celsius).

It is necessary to remember and keep in mind that:

  • The GF-021 primer comes only in red-brown color; there should be no other shades or colors of this emulsion.
  • The cost of the material in question should not be too low, because its cheapness indicates that its components are of poor quality.
  • The basis of a high-quality primer in this case is alkyd film formers, but if the main component in it is petroleum-polymer drying oil, the durability and high quality of the coating are not guaranteed.

Features of surface preparation for primer GF-021

Separately, it is necessary to stipulate some conditions under which the quality of the soil will be maximum. Naturally, the quality of raw materials, correct production technology, and storage conditions are of great importance. All this depends on the integrity of the manufacturer. However, preliminary preparation is no less important, the quality of which depends entirely on the worker.

  • Small debris and dust, rust, old paintwork can make it difficult to apply the primer, and then the coating can simply peel off from the surface.
  • If the surface is contaminated with oily substances, the soil will not dry out as required. The soil also adheres very poorly to wet and too cold materials. On excessively hot surfaces, the soil may dry unevenly, forming an uneven film.
  • It is recommended to pre-grind the surface and treat it with a thin layer of highly diluted primer. This will improve the adhesion of the soil and, subsequently, the paint and varnish coating to the material.

After the preparatory layer has dried, it is recommended to apply the primer in a full, maximum permissible layer. The ideal period for painting with enamel is 3-7 days from the moment of priming. The material processed in this way is reliably protected from negative environmental conditions.
