Painting with fluorescent paints

Often luminous paintings are created based on an existing wall painting, resulting in an unexpected fairy-tale effect. But sometimes designers apply a design with fluorescent paints on a plain surface. During the day it is an ordinary wall, but at night a fantastic picture appears on it.

This finishing material is applied in various ways:

Question answer

Hello Sergey, I re-read all the questions and answers but did not see a similar question. I want to make a painting with a “dry brush”, but the main problem is the relief of the wall. Those. use only starting putty, which is more grainy, or wallpaper with a texture similar to watercolor paper. Or something else... Did you use a dry brush in your works? If not, what would you recommend. Thank you very much for your answer. Read the answer
Hello!
Sergey I like your work! I also want to paint a picture on the kitchen wall. I have a wall behind which has been puttied with a finish and sanded off. Now I want to draw the one you drew in your work (drawing in a niche), what paint did you use, and what did you use to treat the wall? And could you send me this sketch? that is, the drawing should be sent to me by mail. Thank you! Read the answer
How to build one so that the floor flows smoothly into the wall painting?
Often you get the effect of a “raised floor” - there is no feeling that you can go out, for example, onto a balcony. especially difficult with tiles. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!!! Read the answer

Glow-in-the-dark materials, how it works (paints, drawings, objects)

Characteristics of paints and varnishes

These characteristics are suitable for all types of varnishes and paints

Paints are divided into 3 types. Luminescent, Fluorescent, mixed (luminescent - fluorescent)

1) Luminescent - the most brightly glowing in the dark paints are white with a greenish or bluish tint and transparent varnishes with the same shades. They are distinguished by increased luminescence in dark and medium-dark environments. Glow time is 5-8 hours, the brightest glow is during the first 2 hours. To charge, you need bright light, preferably sunlight, or artificial light. The paints are EXACTLY CHARGED i.e. The longer products painted with paint (just paint or varnish) are exposed to light, the longer and brighter the product will glow. Average charging time is 1-2 hours.

2) Fluorescent - paints that glow only under UV rays. The closer to the source of UV rays, the brighter the glow. Different colors. Does not require charging.

3) Mixed (luminescent - fluorescent) Paints of different colors that glow in the dark and under UV rays. The time and degree of charge and glow in the dark is the same (or slightly less when using dark colors in paint)

How to use luminescent or fluorescent paint on fabric

1) Depending on your purpose, apply paint in a way convenient for you:

- onto the laces completely, pressing the paint into the product

- for drawing on a T-shirt in any way (stencil, free drawing) IMPORTANT do not draw the frames of the picture with contrasting colors, they will be visible under the dried paint

Wait for complete drying (depending on the number of layers, 1 layer dries in 1-1.5 hours)

Leave to set for 1-2 days

2) Next, you need to heat-fix the paint; to do this, through unnecessary fabric, so as not to damage the enamel of the iron with unfixed paint, iron the product at a high temperature. Iron for about 2 minutes, if the paint is saturated, then iron on both sides of the product (if possible). If the product is difficult to iron, warm it up with a hairdryer.

3) Then you need to wash off the remnants of the unfixed paint and at the same time soften the product (before this, it was rather rough in most cases, since the paint had set + ironing) Wash the product in a warm, running stream, i.e. under the tap, you can use conditioner (for softness) and wash for about 3 minutes until the water becomes minimally colored.

4) Dry, if necessary, iron again.

Ready!!

If you painted everything with our special luminous paint for fabric, without mixing anything yourself or changing the recipe, then you got a product that glows in the dark, during the life of the thing itself, which does not require special care (like ordinary store items), you can and should wash it but to maintain color and durability, hand washing is recommended.

Instructions for general glow paint and varnishes

As with all products, this paint is more suitable for a white or transparent surface; the darker the product, the dimmer the glow.

Paint your products in the same way as you would paint them with regular paint. There are no special instructions.

If you use fluorescent or mixed paints, see their characteristics above.

Instructions for body paint

The characteristics depend on the type of paint (Luminescent, Fluorescent, mixed (luminescent - fluorescent), the type is indicated on the packaging. Apply as normal makeup. But take care of clothes. The luminous pigment may not be washed off completely (otherwise, in daylight you won’t notice this)

Instructions for paint by color

Apply to the upper (visible) petals and to the core of the flower. The coverage should be medium (not a thin layer, but also do not apply many layers, otherwise the paint will not dry and become transparent). If you are not sure about the quality of application, apply a thin layer in bright light, take the flower into the dark and see if it glows brightly enough , if not, apply another coat. The paint will dry and disappear in 1-2 hours.

Spray the spray over the flower, having previously protected surrounding objects, or do it in a specially equipped place. Do not spray thickly, otherwise the spray will roll off the flowers before it dries. Drying time 1-2 hours.

How the material works

Fluorescent paints are luminous. This is a decorative paint and varnish material that reacts to light in a special way. Under the influence of the light flux, a painting made with such paint will look much brighter, although products coated with the composition will remain beautiful in any lighting. The intensity of color “richness” in the dark is approximately 50% greater.

The variety of shades of paintwork materials is quite large. There are ordinary white paints and colored ones - blue, pink, black, brown, blue, yellow and many other tones. The products are visible and invisible (colorless). Visible paintwork is easy to distinguish in any lighting, but when exposed to sunlight, the pattern gives off a stronger glow.

The composition of the paint is represented by the following components:

  • dyes or pigments (fluorophores);
  • polymer resin - acrylic or polyurethane;
  • fillers;
  • binding additives.

The fluorophore gives the material unique properties. The substance is made from rhodamine, aminonaphthalimide, cyanine and some minerals. Most elements are expensive, which results in a rather high price for fluorescent paintwork materials.

The advantages of the product outweigh the disadvantages:

  • You can use the product outdoors or paint indoors - the composition is universal;
  • The material is easy to use - all you need to do is buy a brush or roller, the composition dries very quickly;
  • in addition to decorative properties, paintwork materials have the ability to protect the base from damage and moisture;
  • material consumption is small, due to which the paint is quite economical;
  • the layer does not fade for a long time, does not fade, and remains beautiful;
  • The material is environmentally friendly - after drying it does not harm nature or humans.

Applying neon paint to a surface: effect in the dark

This material is based on an acrylic binder. Therefore, water is suitable as a diluent, and a special distillate is suitable for spray guns. When applied, the composition dries quickly, resulting in a durable film.

Application Tips:

  • you need to work in a warm, well-ventilated area;
  • use rubber gloves, safety glasses, respirator;
  • for adhesion, the paint is applied to a clean, dry surface, which should preferably be treated with a primer made of acrylic copolymers;
  • to immediately monitor the result, the room should be dark and the UV light should be turned on;
  • The treated surface should be dried with good ventilation, but without drafts.

Fluorescent wall paintings

This painting technique is based on the use of special colorful compositions that accumulate energy during the day and release energy at night, emitting a magical glow under the influence of the ultraviolet spectrum of radiation - under a regular ultraviolet lamp. The range of colors of fluorescent paints is extensive and provides every opportunity to implement the most daring ideas and create a variety of effects and illusions - an interior with fluorescent painting acquires the features of true uniqueness. They paint both smooth surfaces and relief, and details with pronounced volume. Some of the effects of fluoro-painting: sparkling stars and snow in a winter forest, moonlight and a lunar path in the sea, frozen light dynamics of a night highway and much more.

If you want to make your interior completely unusual, order fluorescent wall painting.

Decoration with glowing paint gives the interior of the room an exquisite and unique look. This type of decor is perfect and is especially in demand in children's rooms, nightclubs, and bars.

If you decorate a children's room with luminous paint, then at night a real fairy tale will come to the kids...

A children's room is your child's magical corner where he spends time, studies, and relaxes, so it is so important that it is cozy, clean and, of course, beautiful. If you want to paint a room yourself and have a good imagination, then this is a great opportunity to discover your unique abilities and do it exactly the way you want. But, if you doubt your abilities or you don’t have time for this, entrust this work to professionals. Painting walls with such paint opens up almost enormous possibilities for creativity. This pattern glows well in the rays of a dim lamp or in complete darkness, creating a fantastic mood.

Please your beloved children, give them little joys in the children's room, because when it is light and beautiful it is much calmer to fall asleep.

Characteristics of fluorescent paints and varnishes (LCMs)

I'll tell you a little about what fluorescent paint is.

The peculiarity of these paints is that they convert the UV absorbed by them, and then emit it in the part of the view visible to us.

  1. Conventional paints reflect up to a maximum of 80% of the light falling on them. For fluorescent analogues, this ability is 2/3 times higher. Such compositions can glow in invisible rays of the spectrum.
  2. Manufacturers use special substances called “luminophores” as a fluorescent dye.
  3. Glowing paint is made from modern, harmless phosphor pigments that do not contain phosphorus. The paint glows for up to 6 hours on average, and if you “recharge” it a little with sunlight or artificial light, the glow resumes.

Fluorescent paint and its varieties

-acrylic artistic paint for interior decoration is used to apply a design to virtually any surface, such as drywall, wood, chipboard, etc.

Acrylic luminescent paint for exterior facades is thin-layer and resistant to atmospheric influences, has a water-repellent effect, does not wear off and ideally covers the surface to be painted. Plus it washes well.

Universal urethane-acrylic paint used both indoors and outdoors. It forms a durable coating and can be applied to almost any surface.

Fresco (afresco) as a type of wall painting

The ancient and timeless art of fresco, or colorful painting on wet plaster, is very popular and loved these days. The distinctive features of the frescoes are the amazingly picturesque texture, high qualities of wear resistance and durability. Today's versions of frescoes can create a different impression: both avant-garde painting and the work of an old artist, with a clear imitation of ancient textures and drawing techniques. Ancient frescoes in new houses are aged artificially using simple and fascinating patination techniques, special craquelure varnishes and paints with fillers.

Preparatory stage

We lay out the T-shirt, look at it and come up with an inscription. As soon as an idea appears, we make a sketch. I decided to make a bright “Wow” inscription on the chest.

Then we transfer the image one to one onto a sheet of thick paper of the required size and carefully cut it out using a knife or scissors. In any case, it is better to make the first cut with a stationery knife, so that later it will be convenient to use scissors.

We put sheets of paper inside the T-shirt, this is necessary so that the paint remains only on the top layer of the fabric, and does not suddenly appear on the back.

And now we will show two decor options. In both cases we will splash paint, but we can do it in different ways:

• or only the inscription will be colored,

• or you can leave the letters white, but use spray paint to create a picturesque background for them.

Volumetric wall paintings

Unique painting techniques with the effect of entering a new dimension of space, creating the illusion of freedom and spaciousness in small rooms through paints, lighting and sometimes mirrors. This technique allows you to imitate any architectural delight - a staircase to the sky or a French window to a garden or a snow-covered forest, an arcade overlooking old Verona or the sea surface: the sensations of virtual worlds in your own apartment are not frightening, but enliven the atmosphere and fill life with new positivity.

Watercolor painting and acrylic paints for walls

Watercolor provides a lot of possibilities - the properties of these paints to mix and play with the tints of halftones are familiar to everyone who has ever held a brush in their hands, at least in childhood. Watercolor paintings are protected with a varnish coating. Acrylic paint does not need protection, but the matte silky varnish gives the painting additional charm, while at the same time extending the life of the painting. Acrylic painting has many fans, both adults and children, since the quality of the paints allows the use of acrylic compositions in any room. Acrylic, or latex, dyes are odorless, dry quickly, are resistant to UV rays and are completely environmentally safe. Caring for walls with acrylic painting is simple and inexpensive - regular washing with water and mild household detergents is possible. The wall will not attract dust, and the decor of the smooth surface will require no more time to clean than a regular painted wall.
