Technical characteristics of XB-785 enamel, paint consumption per m2 and GOST

Composition and scope

The scope of application of paint and varnish material is wide. Enamel XB-785 is suitable for painting surfaces made of different materials:

  • metal;
  • tree;
  • concrete;
  • reinforced concrete.

The composition of the paint and varnish material includes polyvinyl chloride chlorinated resin. XB-785 enamel is based on an organic solvent, a plasticizer and additional components. In addition to the main components, pigments are included.

Attention! The components included form a durable protective layer. The painted surface is protected from the destructive effects of acids, gases, salt solutions and alkalis. Maximum protection is permissible at temperatures up to +60 degrees C.

Coloring rules

You can apply paint using the following methods:

  • brush;
  • roller;
  • pneumatic spray;
  • by airless spray method.

The application process can be performed at temperatures from -10 to +30 degrees, humidity should not be more than 80%. It is best to paint a pre-primed base; it is recommended to apply two to four layers of paint, in which case the characteristics of the enamel will be preserved for 6 years. And if the painted product is used at normal air humidity, the service life will be even longer.

You can only paint with well-mixed enamel of uniform consistency. If the mixture is too thick, in order to obtain a working viscosity, you can use any solvent that is already included in XB-785. In order for the layer of paint to hold as firmly as possible, you need to make sure that the metal base has a temperature at least 3 degrees higher than the dew point.

After applying the first coat, approximately 1 hour or more should pass at room temperature. The second coat can only be applied when the first coat has dried.

This enamel can be used in combination with XB-784 varnish. All tools used are cleaned with solvent upon completion of work.

Specifications

All paints and varnishes have technical characteristics. Manufactured in accordance with GOST 7313-75. At an air temperature of +20 degrees, the enamel dries in about 180 minutes to the third degree. Within a day, the surface will dry to the fifth degree, no sticking.

Important! The paint and varnish material XB-785 is resistant to carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and chlorine gas. When completely dry, the enamel reduces the harmful effects of the environment.

The thickness of one layer is from 18 to 23 microns.

Advantages and disadvantages

First of all, let’s get acquainted with all the positive and negative characteristics of XB paint so that you can make the right choice. The advantages of perchlorovinyl paint include:

  • high adhesion rates with almost any material;
  • good penetration depth, which provides reliable protection against moisture;
  • the paint itself retains its integrity for a long time;
  • you can paint at different temperatures, even in frost;
  • the ability to maintain color saturation for a long time.

Along with the advantages, there are also some disadvantages. For example, seasonal conditions do not affect the quality of work, but during extreme heat or rain, painting should not be done. This is justified by the fact that the effect of ultraviolet radiation leads to cracking of the coating, and mixing with liquid is in principle prohibited. Also, the low degree of elasticity of the composition requires high quality surface uniformity. Otherwise, there is a high probability of cracks appearing.

Important! Experts recommend adding a soap solution to it when using XB paint in uncomfortable conditions. This move increases the drying time of the dye, while reducing the likelihood of cracks.

Applying enamel

Before applying, the paint in the can should be thoroughly mixed. In order for the color and tone to be uniform. If necessary, use the solvents indicated on the packaging.

The whole process can be divided into several stages. At the preparatory stage, the surface of the structure is cleaned of grease, dirt, and dust. If the previous dry paint has cracked and started to peel off. It should be removed. If there is rust, it should be removed.

After cleaning, the structure is coated with a primer. The number of primer layers depends on the wear of the structure. Next, prepare the tools for painting: brush, roller, sprayer. Each layer is applied at intervals of 60 minutes.

Enamel belongs to the flammable group. Contains harmful substances. When working with this paint and varnish material, use personal protective equipment. Work only with gloves and a respirator.
