Quelyd glue: characteristics, varieties and main advantages of glue

Quelyd glue is a French product. The adhesive compositions of this manufacturer have international certification, so they can be sold in Russian stores without restrictions. The manufacturing company offers several types of adhesive mixtures that are suitable for gluing various materials.

Important! In Russian stores you can find Quelyd glue not only for paper, but also for non-woven and vinyl wallpaper, as well as compositions for gluing glass wallpaper, decorative borders and other specialized mixtures.

General Product Description

One of the advantages of the described Quelyd adhesive is the speed and simplicity of the wallpapering process. It is worth noting that after applying the composition to the wall, the applied material glides well over it, which simplifies the process of joining the paintings.

After drying, the glue does not react with dyes, so you don’t have to worry about it ruining the appearance of the finishing material. The composition contains bactericidal elements that prevent the formation of mold and mildew under the wallpaper. If necessary, the wallpaper can be easily removed, and the glue does not leave any traces on the wall surface. The solution is prepared within 10 minutes. After application, the glue sets within 2 days. The pack contains information that it is enough to cover a surface of 35 square meters. But this figure is only an average value, so it is better to purchase a larger amount of the mixture.

Glue properties

Wallpaper adhesive called Quelyd, intended for non-woven wallpaper, is suitable for all types of finishing materials:

  • heavy vinyl wallpaper;
  • wallpaper for painting;
  • light vinyl wallpaper.

The described “special non-woven” adhesive allows you to securely fasten large sheets of finishing material to the wall. The advantages of this composition include:

  1. Easy application of glue with both a brush and a roller. When applied to the wall, the solution is evenly distributed over the surface, so bubbles do not appear even if a person is decorating a room for the first time.

  2. Fast setting of glue. After the wallpaper is smoothed on the wall, you can begin to glue the next sheet without worrying that the previous one will begin to peel off. This allows you to speed up the process of pasting the room.
  3. Good sliding ability. This characteristic is quite important, because when pasting wide wallpaper it is quite difficult to install the material in the desired position the first time. If it is necessary to move the pressed wallpaper on the wall, this should be done immediately after it touches the glue.

  4. No marks on the wall after the wallpaper is removed from the surface. If you want to change the design of the room, you do not need to spend a lot of time removing glue residue from the surface.
  5. Safety. All components used to create Quelyd glue are not harmful to health.

Quelyd glue after stirring is a colorless mixture. After drying, the composition does not change its color, so you don’t have to worry about the appearance of yellow stains or changes in the shade of the finishing material. Final setting occurs within 2 days, but this depends on air temperature and humidity.

“Special non-woven” mixtures should be used at temperatures from 5 to 25 degrees. You can store the glue in powder form for an unlimited amount of time, subject to the conditions specified by the manufacturer. If the glue has already been mixed, it can only be used for a week, after which a new solution must be prepared.

Abundance of materials

In a building materials store you can buy several types of glue at the same time:

  1. “Express” (suitable for light and paper wallpaper);
  2. “Superexpress” (has an improved composition intended for fabric and paper canvases);
  3. “Quelyd Glass Wallpaper” (suitable for all glass wallpaper);
  4. “Special non-woven wallpaper” (used for non-woven wallpaper, on which paint will be applied, regardless of the room being decorated. Can be used in the bathroom, kitchen or guest room);
  5. “Special vinyl” (intended for vinyl wallpaper, fabrics, as well as for screen printing).

“It is worth knowing that in addition to wallpaper adhesive mixtures, on store shelves you can find special “Kelid” products for cleaning walls and “indicator products” (they are applied to establish the uniform distribution of the mixture over the surface, since the result of further decoration will depend on this).

Surface preparation and mixture preparation process

The main requirements for the surface are that it must be:

  • hard;
  • dry;
  • clean.

Also, the wall should not absorb moisture. If the walls in the room were previously painted, they need to be plastered. After applying and drying the plaster, the surface should be washed with detergent and then rinsed with water. If the walls are made of materials that absorb moisture well, they must be primed.

Quelyd special non-woven glue is prepared as follows:

  • first you need to prepare 5 liters of cold water;
  • then you need to start stirring the water to create a small whirlpool;
  • after this, Quelyd glue gradually falls asleep;
  • Stirring must be continued until the entire contents of the bag are in the bucket.

Once the Quelyd composition becomes homogeneous, it can be applied to the wall. Before using the adhesive, you must make sure that the entire wall surface is uniform. Even a small area of peeling paint or plaster can cause large blisters. It is also important to level the walls if differences are noticeable without using a plumb line.

A few words about non-woven fabric

The use of non-woven fabric for the production of wallpaper has improved not only operational, but also decorative capabilities. This coating can add depth to your walls. The effect is created due to the relief of the pattern and its volume.

If multilayer non-woven fabric was used in production, then the top one will be corrugated, which will allow light to play on its refined surface.

If the ceiling in your room is covered with non-woven wallpaper, pay attention to coverings with a silk effect.

It is considered the most common in terms of design and level of gloss. Such canvases are made on the basis of dyed vinylized paper, which is then embossed and heated.

Applying glue to the wall and wallpapering

First, at a distance of approximately 50 mm from the door and windows, a vertical line is drawn using a plumb line. This is necessary in order to accurately cut the fabric that will be located near the opening.

After this, you need to evenly apply special non-woven glue to the wall surface using a wallpaper brush or roller. The composition should be located on an area exceeding the width of the roll. Corners and areas near baseboards should be coated more thoroughly.

After applying the composition, the pre-cut canvas is glued along the drawn vertical line. If it is not drawn on the wall, the canvases may not be positioned vertically. Smoothing of the pasted canvas occurs from top to bottom and from the center to the edges. This should be done carefully so as not to leave even small bubbles under the wallpaper, since when the adhesive dries, they can increase in size.

Subsequent panels are glued end to end and along the line to maintain verticality. If the material is subsequently painted, this should be done no earlier than one day after the work described. If you start painting work earlier than the recommended period, the wallpaper may begin to peel off due to the abundance of moisture.

Kelid glue is an adhesive that is suitable for any type of non-woven wallpaper. Using this glue you can glue wallpaper of any width. It is very easy to apply kelid: it is applied with a roller or brush directly to the wall, not to the wallpaper!

The big advantage of quelyd glue is the fast gluing process. Now with this glue you won't have to wait for the wallpaper to soak! On the wall on which the glue is applied, the wallpaper can easily slide and therefore it will be possible to join the wallpaper sheets without difficulty.

When quelyd glue dries, it will not react with paint (if the wallpaper needs to be painted). This glue contains special bactericidal additives that will prevent the formation of fungus.

When the wallpaper reaches its end of life, it can be easily removed - this glue will not leave marks on the wall.

This adhesive was developed in France specifically for gluing wallpaper on a non-woven non-woven base and for gluing heavy vinyl wallpaper also on a non-woven base (it doesn’t matter whether it can be painted or not). Wallpaper solution can be prepared quickly, in just 10 minutes. Wallpaper glued with this glue will set in less than two days. One pack of glue is enough for about 35 m2.

PREPARATION OF WALLS AND PREPARATION OF GLUE

The walls must be strong, clean, dry, normally absorbent and free of capillary moisture. Pre-sand previously painted walls, wash with detergents, and then rinse with clean water. Remove old wall coverings or whitewash using Dissoucol wallpaper remover. Pre-prime highly absorbent surfaces (wood, drywall, plaster).

Pour into a clean bucket:

- 5 liters of cold water for non-woven wallpaper

— 4.5 liters of cold water for non-woven wallpaper for painting

Quickly stir the water to create a whirlpool, then continue stirring and slowly pour the contents of the bag over the edge of the bucket. Wait 10 minutes, then stir vigorously - the glue is ready.

APPLYING GLUE TO THE WALL

Using a plumb line, draw a vertical line on the wall at a distance of 50 cm from the window or door (with a roll width of 53 cm) or 1.03 m (with a roll width of 1.06 m). This will allow you to cut the canvas evenly and accurately at the level of the door or window frame. Apply the adhesive evenly to the wall using a medium-nap roller or wallpaper brush along the marked line, covering an area slightly larger than the width of the roll to be glued. Using a brush, coat the corners and along the baseboards well with glue.

Gluing wallpaper on a non-woven base

Stick the roll directly onto the wall, following the marked line. Do not cut the roll into sheets. Smooth with a brush from top to bottom and from the center to the edges, removing air bubbles. Mark the fold of the wallpaper along the baseboard using the back of the scissors. Cut the fabric along the ruler with a wallpaper knife. Glue the next sheet end-to-end with the previous one. It is recommended to paint wallpaper no earlier than after 24 hours.

QUELYD TIPS

— This adhesive/sticking method is not suitable for paper-based wallpaper.

— To more effectively clean the walls, wash them with bleach diluted in water, then rinse with clean water.

— Remove excess glue with a damp and clean sponge.

— Rinse tools with warm water.

ATTENTION!

From the moment you start work until the glue has completely dried, the windows and doors should be closed, as a draft can ruin your work.

Quelyd / Kelid is a famous French brand that appeared in France in 1922. The name "Quelyd" comes from an abbreviation of the French phrase "Quelle idee, quel ideal", which means in Russian "What an idea, what an ideal!" For many years now, Kelid brand adhesives have been the standard of quality for professionals and home craftsmen. The product line includes a wide selection of products for finishing work: luxury adhesives for wallpaper and wall coverings, primers, etc. On the Eastern European market, Kelid also offers a wide selection of adhesives for any repair work that you always need to have on hand: universal contact adhesives, wood adhesives, second adhesives, assembly adhesives. Kelid adhesives will find demand among both home craftsmen and professionals, as they are professional-quality adhesives that are convenient and easy to use.

Wallpaper glue quelyd

Our whole life is not complete without repairs. What kind of renovation would it be without wallpapering? When choosing wallpaper glue, we pay attention to the manufacturer and quality.

Quelyd wallpaper glue is immediately ready for use, you just need to dilute it with water in a clean bucket, mix thoroughly and start gluing the wallpaper.

What are the advantages of quelyd glue?

•The structure of the adhesive is safe, so wallpapering can be done in the presence of other people;

•Easy to prepare;

•Excellent glide (wallpaper at the joint is easily adjusted);

•Suitable for wallpapering in the bathroom;

•Low consumption (1 bag per 5 rolls);

•Prevents the appearance of fungi.

Knowing all the advantages, you can safely trust kelid glue, but the question remains - what kind of wallpaper can be installed with this glue. There are quite a lot of these types of wallpaper, for example, it can be vinyl wallpaper, velor wallpaper, metallic wallpaper, Japanese straw, voluminous wallpaper for painting, etc.

The composition of quelyd adhesive for non-woven wallpaper includes modified starch and bactericidal additives. This is what gives the glue its translucent, oily appearance. The adhesive will take 24 to 48 hours to set after application to the wall. The setting time depends on the temperature and humidity in the room.

How to glue wallpaper with kelid glue?

The peculiarity of kelid glue is that it must be applied directly to the wall with a roller or brush.

First, we clean the wall of dust, paint and other contaminants (old whitewash); for wooden walls, you must first prime them. Next, measure the width of the wallpaper, apply Quelyd to the required amount of the wall and smooth it with a special roller (to remove air). Then we prepare the next piece of wallpaper and the wall on which we will glue the wallpaper. When the canvas is glued, you need to smooth out the joints. It should be noted that painting of wallpaper should be done only after 24 hours.

Some tips for using kelids.

Quelyd adhesive for non-woven wallpaper should be used in rooms with a closed window, because... a draft can ruin everything.

The minimum temperature for using kelid glue is +5°.

To clean the walls from dirt and get rid of grease, you need to wash them with water diluted with bleach, and then rinse with cold water.

The shelf life of the glue is unlimited if you store it in a closed bag in a dry place.

Tools can be easily washed in warm water.

Excess glue protruding along the edges of the wallpaper should be removed with a clean, damp sponge.

Quelyd is not suitable for paper-based wallpaper.

You should work with gloves.

If it gets into your eyes, you should immediately wash them with plenty of water.

The time for quelyd glue to set depends on its own temperature and the types of products being glued:

  • The lower temperature slows down the hardening of the quelyd adhesive mixture and significantly increases the viscosity of the finished composition.
  • If the room temperature is high, this point can shorten the life of the solution. In this case, the viscosity of the quelyd adhesive will become reduced, which will cause problems in joining the materials.
  • The speed of setting directly depends on the porosity of the base: the greater the porosity of the surface, the faster the adhesive composition dries.

Adviсe

To avoid any difficulties during the pasting process, it is worth learning in advance about some of the features of the work:

  1. The presented Quelyd special non-woven adhesive is not suitable for paper wallpaper. The described application method is also not applicable when using this type of finishing material.
  2. To clean the walls more effectively, just wet them with chlorine and then rinse it off with warm water. You only need to do everything with a clean sponge so that streaks do not appear on the wall.
  3. All excess adhesive should be removed only with a damp sponge.
  4. Tools need to be washed with warm water from time to time; if this is not done, the glue may harden quickly and will be more difficult to remove. The same rule applies to removing excess composition at the joints of finishing material. If you leave even a small amount of glue, it will be very difficult to remove.
  5. You should only work with glue while wearing gloves. If adhesive gets into your eyes, you should immediately rinse them with running water.

It is also worth remembering that while gluing the walls you cannot keep windows and doors open, as this will contribute to the appearance of a draft. It is important to maintain the recommended temperature in the room, since lowering it causes the mixture to harden. If the temperature is increased, the composition becomes less viscous, so the material may not adhere securely.

Reviews of the described composition indicate that it sets quickly and does not appear in any way on thin wallpaper.

Main advantages

Quelyd does not operate on the principle of “quantity over quality”. The company demonstrates true French quality in its entire assortment, because it is not for nothing that the Kelid brand adhesive compositions are the most popular on the market.

The products have a whole list of advantages for which the company is so loved not only by ordinary amateurs, but also by professional workers.

Excellent adhesion

Thanks to its high-quality composition, the adhesive base of the mixture guarantees strong adhesion of any wallpaper to the wall surface. The presence of cellulose additives guarantees long-lasting adhesion even in hard-to-reach places, without the need for much effort.

An important fact is that if the canvas is incorrectly attached to the wall (the pattern does not match, the corner has moved and other problems), you can move the glued material to the desired place within 20-25 minutes.

Economical

An important advantage is the availability of the mixture. With excellent quality of the product, the Kelid brand keeps the price at an average level, which allows you to paste wallpaper even with a small renovation budget. But the low price of the product is not everything, because the material itself is consumed economically, which provides a way to save on the number of packages.

Safety

Environmentally friendly ingredients and constant product quality controls guarantee the complete safety of Quelyd products. The use of the entire range is harmless to both people and animals.
